I understand as much as I hate to admit it about only giving owners ride privelages. I would love to experience a ride in a F1 or 333sp but due to me not owning a Ferrari I'll have to wait. Do you have a layout of all the events planned for the 4 days. I am trying right now to get things planned so that I can come. It sounds like it will be extremely fun for all. Maybe I can talk an owner into a ride. Thanks

The rides in the cars will be given to a selected goup of owners that bring their cars to the event. The price for the 4 day Ferrari (all inclusive) event will be approximately $850-$900 per person and will include all entry to all of the events and all meals.

I spoke with Eric van der Poele last week. He is flying in from Belguim for our event next year on October 24-27. We will have him in a 333SP (hopefully this year with two seats.) and a 360 Challenge (2 seats) He will give rides.

According to Guiseppi Risi of Ferrari of Houston and Dallas we will also have a Enzo Ferrari.

If you like to see and experience Ferraris at the hands of an F1 driver, this event is not to be missed.

We will be limiting cars this year, so if you are interested please post your information on this site and I will send you an invitation.

Guys you all really must consider whatever it takes to get here. I missed this years event but was around for the last two and I road with Eric V. in the 360 challange, I got in the seat and all he said to me was "are you ready to fly" wow it was great around turn 3 we almost t-boned a 456 but that was the 456's fault. We had 2 333sp's and they were amazing along with Van De Poole doing donuts in an F-50 in the middle of Carrolton Ave. Don't miss this next year both Franco and John and there minions do a wonderful job pulling off the outragous.

Dave,
You got it right. McGuires is located right next to Sammy's strip club. They do have the best steaks (McGuire's not Sammy's:-)). The Dunes out on Pensacola beach has been having problems right now with the beach washing out. They had to build a big sea wall just to keep it from falling into the Gulf. My dad did all the concrete out there and he said if we get another hurricane they are going to lose it. If your ever in town feel free to send me an email. I'd love to see the car if you got it with you. Personally it's much better here in the summertime. All the girls at the beach have all there clothes on right now. Have a good day!

Yep Matt, I think I remember hearing that the other one was in Branson Mo. That place always reminds me of the John Candy/Dan Ackroyd (sp?) movie about the cabin on the lake and the HUGE steak he had to eat...Mesquite Charlies and Tre Fratelli are our 2 regular stops when we stay at The Dunes. That Irish pub place next to the strip club(McGuires Pub??)just past the bridge is also pretty good! Man, this is making me want to plan a weekend getaway!

Dave,
You got a deal. It just so happens I went to high school right down the street from there with the owners son. He actually moved up north somewhere and opened another one. They do have the best steaks in town. We used to get out of school and stop by there on the way home. Ahhh the good old days....

That's not a bad idea. As broke as I am I would definity spend my Christmas money to ride in an F1 car. How much is it going to be to attend the event. Did I read correctly that an Enzo will be there? If so how much will it be for a non owner. If it's not open to the public I will be the brown haired guy scaling the fence.

Maybe you could offer different levels (amount of laps) for different prices. Or Make it $100 per lap With a 5 lap minimum. Then everyone could have their socks blown off. Even the "non F-50 owners" could get a chance to experience a real F-1 car. I'd bet you would sell a lot of laps.

Guys:

Yes driving an F1 car would be great. I can arrange that. Riding in a 333SP with Eric (much faster than any of us driving an F1 car) would be great. And WILL happen at next years New Orleans Event. But consider this: I circle my home track, Grand Bayou, a 1.8 mile track, in by Berlinetta with slicks at 1:30. The fastest a closed car has ever lapped was 1:20 (LeMans spec GT2 TT 911). (actually Eric in a 360 challenge did 1:17). Eric in a 333SP has the lap record at a scorching 1:06. BUT Eric said he could lap in the low :50s in an F1 car!!! That is WORLDS apart.

Nothing short of blasting off in a space shuttle would give you the thrill of being in an F1 car with an F1 driver. (Consider this: I had two people get sick riding with me at 1:30. I road with Eric, who was 10 seconds a lap faster than myself, and it was a world apart, scared the hell out of me. I cannot imagine the 333Sp at 10 second faster than the 360C. This will be WORLDS apart from that. But the F1, at a full 20 second faster than my ride from hell with Eric in the 360C? 50 seconds faster than I lap? That would be a Galaxy away from anything you or I will likely ever experience).

While my idea may be crazy, I'd still love to pull it off. IF 5k is too much whould you do it for 3K? 2K? No other experience mentioned would be close. I would need to raise at LEAST 20 grand to get it done, maybe more, I'm not sure. But just imagine!!

In any case if this fails I will have Eric giving a rides in a 333SP next year (and an Enzo) BUT I wanted to give my guests an the ULTIMATE experience, to feel what it is like to "be like Mike." Maybe I'm nuts. But in any case I'm determined to knock the socks off of my guest for next years event.

Franco and I were able to pull off a 170mph police escort of 30 Ferraris the year before last, why not this!

Great idea, but a bit too high. I would say you can get more money from a raffle at say... $100 bucks a pop and a few people will be able to get to ride in the two seater.

Up in Canada, there is a school that charges 10K and you get to drive many cars, and the finale is an F1 car (last I heard, 1997 Benneton).

not to change the subject but 15 years ago I paid 20 bucks for a ride down the olymipic bodsled run in lake placid - got up to like 60-70 mph - now that was a lot of bang for the buck

I rather steer myself in a F1. I did that in France for about $ 2k. Granted it was 'only' an AGS, but it had plenty of hp for me.

Riding in a two seater would not be fun for me, I'm a bad passenger.

333sp's already sort of have a second seat. they have to to qualify for lemans or something like that. They have a harness, but no seat is in place.

John,

Nice idea, but I have to say 5K is a bit too high. For about the same money you can drive a genuine late 90's F1 car at Magny Cours or Spa with Adrenaline Motorsports.

Certainly going out with someone like Eric V. is sure to be an incredible experience but I can tell you from experience that I doubt most people would find it worth 5K.

I got free rides with Parker Johnstone (ex-CART driver) in a Acura Comptech Spice car (IMSA Lights car) and also got a ride with Hans Stuck in a 959S in the early 90's. Both rides were incredible but I can't say I would have paid that much money for them.

A two seat F1 car with a current or retired F1 driver maybe, but it would have to be someone who won a World Championship, not just any professional diver (Mansell, Alesi, Damon Hill...)

Just my two cents worth.

John,

With all due respect, the price is too high. The idea itself, however, is fantastic. But, like other's have commented, perhaps a 333sp would be a better (read: less financially prohibitive) option, don't know how difficult adding a second seat to a 333 could be, but I'm sure it can be done.

Just my opinion.

Maybe a two seater 333SP ride would be more cost effective, and almost as much fun.

Especially since you may not be able to actually see much when riding passenger in a two seater F1 car.

Would this be a possibility?

Yea, i didn't comment on the price. The idea is awesome, but the price is a little high. For that much, you can go to a 3 day racing school like Skip Barber, with money left over. I think for 4 laps on the 1.8 mile track, something like $500 would be more likely. Just have to get more people to ride to offset the cost I guess.

4 laps for $4000-5000? anyone who pays for 4 laps either has the money to burn or is, how can i put this nicely, stupid. the tires would hardly get warmed up in 4 laps.

That is an AWESOME idea and I hope it goes through. I have enjoyed watching the track events and the two last Ferrari Concouse at No Problem Raceway, and the chance to see an F1 car circle the track would be amazing. I hope the logisitics work out for this coming year......I already can't wait!

I've been speaking with Eric van de Poele (ex F1 driver, 333SP Sebring champ., Bentely Team driver), and he threw out an idea for my next years Ferrari event in New Orleans. I'd like some feedback from you guys.

Every year I co-host a boutique Ferrari event in New Orleans, for about 50 cars, and we do some outrageous things. Eric flys in from Belgium as our celebrity f1 driver, and takes our guests for a thrilling ride around the track in a two seat Ferrari race car (usually a Ferrari Challenge car.) To be in the passanger seat of a Ferrari with a former F1 drive at the wheel is a once in a lifetime experience.

I've asked Eric how we can top it for next year's event. Eric suggested that he might be able to bring a Minardi two seater F1 car. The only catch is that it might be a tad over my operating budget for the event.

The E-bay F50 ride auction gave me an idea of how to fund it. So I ask you Ferrari guys: How many of you who want to experience this? How much would it be worth to you? Say you could get 4 laps around a track in a two seater f1 car, with a former f1 driver? Would it be worth $3,000, $5,000, more? Not sure what numbers would make it work, but with the right support, if there was enouph interest, I might be able to pull off a once in a lifetime experience, for a select group of Ferrari guys.

Any thoughts guys?
