If a non-Italian company is to take over Ferrari, I would prefer BMW over any other. After all, they make M cars that perform as well as a most Ferraris, better than some, seat 4 or 5 for 25% of the cost of the bottom of the line Dino 360 ! And as far as beauty is concerned, BMWs have it in that teutonic way. |

DES, your idea of BMW/VAG/Lambo/Porsche and Ferrari sounds pretty good... they would have all bases covered except for maybe pick up trucks... small cars like the 1 series to Ferrari supercars... Very interesting... |

I think we should all chip in the money needed to buy Ferrari majority stock. All donations can be sent to. . . |

Ernie, I agree that Ferrari is screwing over the American buyer, owner. I think Mercedes by itself amd actually not linked to Chrysler would be the best pair up if there had to be one. |

BMW would suck every ounce of passion and beauty out of Ferrari. Lets hope that doesn't happen...... |

Dalmer-Chrysler would be the best one to get the car in my opion. Why because Chrsyler, before they merged, was looking to the future, and Dalmer-Benz for the craftsmanship of German engineering. That, and, when Chrysler had Lamborgini is when the Diablo came out. They also used the engineers from Lambo to help with the development of the V10 for the Viper. As far as continuing with the current tradition. Well what they need to do is bring the European tradion over to the States, and get rid of Ferrari North America's tradition of screwing over American owners. Who also happen to be the largest customers of the make. |

BMW is ridiculously meticulous in the detail and precision they consider when constructing their cars... HOWEVER... i think that passionate look and feel of just sitting in a Ferrari would be lost of BMW got their hands on it... i just love the new Lamborghini Murcielago, but the Diablo just blows it away, hands down, as far as looks are concerned... this is because it wasn't the usuals who designed the Murc- it was someone new... (someone affiliated with BMW or a similar German automaker, if i recall correctly) Porsche has some very tasty automobiles in their part of the automotive town, especially the newest, the Carerra GT (godDAMN...!) If Ferrari absolutely had to give it away, i'd say let BMW/Porsche/Lambo/Audi join forces, start a new company independent of each original subsidiary and continue churning out Ferraris... masterful precision, yet elegance beyond what one is accustomed... |

Even in todays consolidation of auto makers, the only way to view Ferrari/Maser are as only children |

Why would Porsche want to put their car in second place of their corporation by taking on Ferrari? That's just what would happen. |

Dont hope for Porsche! I have always been a huge Porsche fan and still think the early 911's are among the best sportscars ever built, but the modern Porsche company is nothing like what Ferry and the family built. Todays Porsche is totally a corporate minded, profit focused company that would sell minivans if they think there is big money in it. All soul left Porsche years ago. If Porsche took over Ferrari, look for a new Ferrari commuter car, station wagon and pickup truck all with psydo retro styling and cheap engineering. |

Either Honda or BMW. They are both performance oriented and large powers in racing. F1 would be very interesting with BMW owning Ferrari? Not sure how that would play out, but that would make the F1 series far more interesting than it is today. Either company would certainly improve the quality of the product. There is always room for that as well. JMHO..Dave |

Somehow I think Porsche would be a bad one. The two would "clash" in my opinion. What about if Mercedes bought them? Not bringing Chrysler into the deal. A luxury car manuf. with the greatest sports car in the world.Just a thought. |

the best would be a an non automotive group . More like a group of investors like the one who bought MG . If it has to be an automotive group , then BMW , but i would hate to see ferrari being owned by a german company . DOnt ask why , i just do ! And VW ?? noway ! they would probably end up fitting that V10 TDi in the 456 GT replacement ! |

BMW would take the marque forward in leaps. I have had most makes now (paid for with my own hard earned not leased cars - IMO this makes a big diff to how you view cars) and I feel strongly that nobody but nobody builds a car with such high production line quality as BMW (my Mercedes wasn't even close). Audi/VW group are a close second, although I have driven a few ropey VW Passats recently My vote BMW |

Forgetone of the big U.S. 3 taking over Ferrari. Which foreign auto manuf. would be the best to carry on the Ferrari image and keep the passion alive??????? In other words a smooth transition and continue the Ferrari tradition as it now is. |
