Hey! All you guys do is talk about cars??!! Wheres the wives sharing???the passion???
Oh... about the cars..I get it now.... drat...
Ha Ha this kind of response must be wearing thin eh??

My fiance is also a car nut. She likes 60's muscle cars mostly, especially Chevy Camaro,1969!!
She likes most Ferraris, & Porsches and is real supportive, with 1:18 Hotwheels F-cars for birthdays & Christmas, and going to events.

Glad to hear so many of us have at min. no reel neg. major feedback from our "better" halves, and that there's so much possitive stuff.

My wife calls my Lotus a "wretched little car". Perhaps I need a Ferrari.

Ah did I mention the reason for thinking about a 250 instead of the Mexico (which I have wanted since I was a kid) is that my wife likes the looks of the 250. No doubt it will be another "our" car @ best, if not a "her" car.

A friend of ours has a 355 she let my wife drive. Lucky for me she still thinks the older cars are "cooler". My wife did not like the seats in the 355. On the other hand she really liked another friends 456. Into fluffy for new cars, and "neat" for old ones...

My wife at first was not thrilled with the 308 (even though she bought it for me) when I first got it. She did not liked the way it rode or the poor air conditioning or the vast amount of sounds that come out of it. But after she drove it for awhile she started to like it better and better. I let her take it anytime she wants and she has taken it to work. Of course all the men there drool and beg to drive it. Last Christmas she bought me some Ferrari shirts and a really nice jacket. This year she requested some clothing of her own, Ferrari of course. I talked about getting rid of it and she said I could but as long as it was replaced with another Ferrari. She is always looking for cool stuff for the car and never complains when I buy anything for it. She wanted a new Corvette ragtop for herself but has grown to love the 355 spyder instead. Never know there may be two prancing horses in the garage yet. I guess I am a lucky guy.

My wife has a Maserati has her daily driver. She of course also drives my Ferrari @ least twice a week. The Maserati is "her" car. The Ferrari is "our" car. My Maserati Indy is my car, she doesn't like the way it handles. Of course when we got married she had a SCCA race car in her garage.

My wife is very cool and understands that I must tinker and play with the Ferrari...as it is my vice.
She hasn't drove a manual car in many years but I do want to teach her again...so she could take it out once in awhile...I think it would be a pisser listening to the stories/comments she received after going out for a ride with one of her hot girlfriends.

Well Chris. I hope it works out for you but it seems they always find a way to spend money on the house before it goes anywhere else. Having a garage is part of the battle but when you win your part is when you see that bad boy sitting in your garage and you go out every night and put it to bed. The fact she isn't listening to logic bothers me a little. Good Luck......

My wife said we had to have a house before I can get a Ferrari, so we closed today on our first home. I can now start looking for the 308 or 355 I have wanted for the past 25 years of my 25.8 years of living.

Magoo, you're right. See, she wants a house for all the practical and financial reasons (which are hard to argue with anyway). On the plus side, the house would also give me a garage where I can keep and protect the Ferrari. So in the end, everybody wins. That's what a happy marriage is about, right?

I already tried logic - saying the Ferrari that I want to start with (308GTS with carbs) costs a fraction of a modest home, especially here in southeast Michigan. She didn't buy it from that point of view.

My wife at least understands my passion for Ferraris. She doesn't get into it like I do - I'll probably never catch her on Ferrarichat contributing to threads - but she is patient when I pull through Cauley Ferrari to see what's new, or I bore her to death with details about the new cars. She'll just quietly nod her head and tell me that sounds cool, whether or not she understood the technical babble that I just spewed forth. And she has even said that when we get a house, the next big purchase we'll make is my toy. Works for me :-)

I am not married but I thought that I would share. My girlfriend really enjoys cars. She is all for the purchase of any car that I am interested in, especially Ferraris. She was there when I purchased my First Ferrari and we drove it cross country together. She also enjoys working on them with me. Every Ferrari (or for that matter car) project I have done she has done with me. She threaded my a/c hoses through the 308, adjusted the clutch, etc. She doesn't mind contributing if she has the extra $$$ for parts or ?. We got to some events together and she enjoys talking about anything tech related. I think it is wonderful that we can both share the enjoyment of these cars.

My wife approves of Porsches and love Lambo's but doesn't like most Ferraris. The ones she does like are the TR's, F40, F50, Enzo, 360 Spyder, 550 Barchetta. She would take a Diablo over any of them though. The good thing is that she does like the new Maserati. Thank God, at least they're made by Ferrari

When I first met my wife - she immediately found
out that I was a car nut.... she knew what she
was getting into...
when we were going to get married... i had expressed that if we ever got divorced (god forbid)... she could have everthing, but DON'T F*** with the F and it would be a battle for
children custody...
after 10 great years of being married with children and with several car changes she
understands that I AM SICK - I AM ADDICTED TO
F's and exotic cars.
She has no passion for my cars.
She seldom (even rarely) gets to ride the F.
But she truly understands my passion...
I am blessed with a good marriage.

Though unscientific I find that women like and relate to Porsches more than the Ferrari. I believe they are intimated by the Ferrari and may find their owners beyond reach.

Based on my experience, men and kids definately prefer Ferrari over most other cars including Porsches.

My wife is in love with them also, being from an Italian family. Not as much as I am, but she thinks they are beautiful, and she likes the speed. She is, however, more practical than I am, so we ended up buying a house instead of the Ferrari a few months back. Looking back, she was right. Don't tell her I said that. :-) She let me decorate an entire room in our new house with everything Ferrari, so I could have my shrine. She brings balance to my life. We are planning to take the Ferrari plunge sometime this summer or early fall. She is just about as excited as I am.

Not being married, I look for someone who understands my passion for the car and the track. She does not have to love it or partake, but must understand it, and let me play. I guess that is why I am still looking. Where am I going to find a girl who likes Ferrari's, racing, and does not mind the bird hunting. LOL

Tom, you're lucky... i dated an Italian woman for 2 years and, even though she was very into her Italian heritage, she was more into 'vettes than anything else... we DID discuss having children, and she said it was fine, if we had a daughter, that i could name her Ferrari...
...go figure...

My wife has not rode in any of the cars since I took her to Lime Rock, in the TVR, when we first met(1986). She thinks I'm nuts and keeps saying "are you buying another car?" The down side is Cartier is starting to recognize me. Oh well, now where is that guys number with the . . .

I think you're on to something there, Bruce....the kids probably knew it was my favorite scene for other reasons than just the 308 .

Matt...I enjoyed reading the "chronology of events" when purchasing an F-car -- so true!

This thread got me thinking -- if I were to put myself in her shoes, then I'd have to say that our wives are VERY understanding of us -- you think??

Looks like I better go back out shopping and get here a another Christmas gift.

at Thanksgiving, my wife asked my mother when I would "outgrow" the F-car thing (I'm 40). My mother, who married my father AFTER he had already bought his Ferrari in 1960 when he was 25, tried to explain that the 'boys' will take the F-car thing to the grave. My wife enjoys a concours about every three years or so, but that's about it.

When I got the 308, the wife called it the...

1-3 months Money pit, midlife crisis car, old junk

4-7 month "my ass hurts, these seat suck" "that's the trunk? hahaha" "Why does it smell like gas all the time?"

8-10 month "I don't get what you see in this car." "let's take the Ferrari tonight!"

11- now "we might as well take the Ferrari, it's a good night to take it out.

When I got the Boxer in Sept.

Sept.. "WHAT!!! You paid how much for that POS that you can't even drive!"

Oct. "i am so gald it's out of the garage!"

Nov -was in restoration-

Dec - "Did you get another one? It looks so different." "let's got for a ride"

She is coming around slowly. She is still afraid to drive them though.

Like Magoo, my wife simply enjoys a ride in the 308 now and then. She has no desire to drive it (prefers auto. tranny), but (like me) thinks the car is beautiful. She wants a new 'Vette, and has reassured me that it will be "her" car, and that I will be welcome to ride along with her .

My two young children on the other hand are really beginning to share my passion for cars, particularly Ferrari. Last night, Nat. Lamp. Vacation was on, and when the scene came on with the 308, they came running through the house yelling "Daddy, Daddy, your car is on TV!!".

Or, perhaps they are just trying to "butter me up" because it's Christmas??

My best friend (i love her, dearly), understands my passion for exotic automobiles more than ANYONE... she understands my love for driving, and not only has she accepted it, but she considers it in the things we do, together and has expressed to me that she'd do just about anything if it would entail putting me behind the wheel of a Horse or a Bull...
i love her and she's truly a dream...

How many of you guys have wives that share the Ferrari passion with you? My wife likes to go for a ride and she thinks the car is cute. Like my 60 vette she thinks that is cute also. But how many wives truly love your Ferrari as you do and when a expensive repair is necessary she understands. Life is not perfect but this would be.
