I purchased an IS300 just a little over a year ago off of e-bay. The car had 20,000 miles on it. At the time, I had the same dilemma, BMW 325 or the IS300. I think they are both great cars. I have had no problems with the IS300, has good power, handles great, and best of all, my wife loves it. Between the two, I think the IS300 is the best bang for the buck.

I'm not a fan of the E Shift on the IS300 but it does have a 6 SP manual transmission available. Go for that if you can find one.

Also heard they were making a IS430 V8 4.3L that would be cool.

I just bought a 2003 IS 300. I drove both. The Lexus is just as much fun to drive, cost less, much better dealer service, and goes like a scalded cat. The negatives are; so-so gas mileage and the steering is a little twitchy. Later this year, the IS 300 will be available in a 2 door and also a convertible.

Go to car talk and you will see that the 3 series is in the top ten gay and lesbian cars. Secondly with M3 motors blowing up and BMW not calling for a recall only replacing those who complain the loudest is this a company you want to support ?

I really believe that the Lexus is a more trouble free car and in the long run you will be happier you chose it over the BMW. It will run also. My stepson has one and it will haul ass.

Go for the IS300 over the 325. I have had my 5 speed for a year now. Driven both and the IS is way more fun. If you were talking about a 330, then its a different story. But for about 8k less, the IS wins hands down.

Okay guys, this is the last time I will do this. I know this is a ferrari board, but I cant help myself. You guys really are good, and I need some good advise. I can now get a new car after the 1st of the year. What do you think, a Lexus is300 5-speed, or a bmw 325i 5-speed. Those are the only two in my price range, that I like. Please let me know what you think.
