Mainly Girls now a days
I dont blame them,
They are in a hurry to get to the place where her friends are at which happens to be the person who she is talking on the cell phone to, also to save time she is putting on her makeup, and she is singing and dancing to get in the mood while sipping on her drink.

Now there is the punk who just wants to mess with you, On this person I would drive with the break pedal pressed enough for the taillights to come on. They will usually back off. Or you can press the brake enough for the lights to come on and gun it a the same. That will leave them way back, but you are asking for trouble when you do it.

In my younger days:
I have done the Top Gun move, bring them close, switch lanes and slam on the brakes and watch them fly by and then return the favor.

Someone was tailgating me on a four lane which I was very familiar with and I decided to have some fun. I took the exit ramp went to the top and came down the other side and ended up right behind them, lol.

I once was pulled over because someone was following ME to close. Lol
(I had a little talk with his boss)

(excuse my rambling)

I stay far enough in front that no one can even reach the vaccum behind my car. Lest I give them a chance to save fuel, sheah!

Best!
Ben.

As for the young tailgaters- remember they think they are invincible, have lightening quick reaction time, and have super duper carbon fiber mega speed antilock gadgets on their brakes. Besides, nothing in front of them is supposed to happen other than you pull out of their way so they can ride the guys as s in front of you.

Magoo, i really think it varies on location... Out here, on Long Island, i find that it's mostly males (18-40) that are tailgating me... but everyone out here drives like a maniac, anyway, so i'm just trying to keep in with the flow of traffic (cough, cough, bullsh!t, cough, cough)...

I love tailgating, it gives you a good draft so you can pass on the right!

Usually rednecks (some in suits; some female) in enormous trucks or Suburbans. Occasionally, a teenage boy in a 5.0 Mustang or a Z28.

magoo,
LOL, you would not be driving a Lincoln Towncar by any chance and live in Hallandale?

Can't say I see many tailgating me. If somebody is behind you that means you are in the wrong lane, just as you had said in your earlier subject let them pass and move to the right.

In DC-MD-VA I find its mostly younger guys trying to check out my car, usually in their Honda,Mitsu,Nissan, whatever. On some occasions, its a woman with her husband in the passenger seat egging her on to get closer so he can check out the car.

If you are driving as Enzo intended why would anybody be even close to tailgating?

Over here it's mostly the young salesmen types, people in suits riding their Volvo s40 or their BMW. Sometimes the youth, like me, driving in whatever available. In the Netherlands this is. Thought it's the same troughout Europe but I'm not sure.

Almost no girls trying to pass, neither do the catholic priest. 90% of the catholic people always ride 5 kmh below the speed limit. The old ladies/gentlemen usually drive 90 on a 120 highway.

I don't get passed too much, but I find it's a diverse group. Sometimes young girls and boys, but mostly the redneck variety in the pick up that is common down here.

Cmon guys, Don't avoid the question. Do you find it to be mostly young girls, old ladies, young punks, or catholic priests?

What annoys me the most is speed inconsistency. I pick a speed and stick to it regardless of up hill, down hill, etc. People that do 85 downhill, pass you and then pull back in front of you (middle lane) and then 55 up the next hill make me insane. The jeep isn't what one would call a "mover" so accelerating and decelerating is comparable to the QE2. Sometimes you have to seriously wonder if all people have brains. I look at it this way, remember gym class in H.S. Alright, there were like your 5 friends you played sports with that could dominate the class if they wanted to (obviously putting effort in would be uncool so they don't). Then there's the 17 other kids that were short of retarded, could barely run. All 22 people now have licenses and those 17 now rely on the 5 to keep them out of accidents, etc.

The thing that annoys also a lot is when people don't stay to the right, within reason of course (time to see you're behind and space to move over). That makes me so angry because they're so inconsiderate and that whole social thing how they want to be in control, etc.

Just slow down and whoever it is, will pass you, 100% of the time. This can be a fun game too, when you blast past them later @ 100mph+

When you are on the highway and you look in the rear view mirror and someone is tailgateing you who do you find it is? My personal experience is I usually see a young teenage girl jumping up and down on the seat trying to pass. I call them "Hot Pants."
