John, Thanks for the feedback. I think the first year will go rather smoothly seeing as I have $34K in receipts over the last 3 years. The previous owner bought it with 10K 3 years ago and drove 8K in the past three years. During that time he replaced EVERYTHING that could go bad from sitting. I agree with the 16" wheels. I'll kep my eyes out and see what comes up. |

Gorgeous car, "Tazio." Having owned 2 carbureted 308GTBs myself, it sounds like you made a killer deal on this one. Drive it 'til the wheels fall off! You'll likely need to be patient (and financially generous) with it during the first year you own it, due to its extremely low mileage. I would STRONGLY suggest not messing with the OEM 14" wheels -- they may have a role to play on the lawn at Pebble Beach, but nowhere else. Get yourself a set of 16" 308QV wheels instead (frequently advertised in the back of FML and your local FCA newsletter). You'll have plenty of tire choices with the 16" wheels, and they'll look indistinguishable from the 'correct' wheels to most viewers.

Yes indeed, a small world. I guess that means the uncommon occurence of two rossa corsa 308's passing at an intersection just became that much more uncommon in my neck of the woods. Enjoy! Having seen her in person you certainly made an excellent choice, I was always surprised by the impeccable condition considering the age. |

Robert, What a small world indeed. I did buy the car from a fellow in Pleasanton and, in fact, that car is also on the ferrari308.com website. |

Beautiful GTB Tazio! Congratulations!!! Out of curiosity, did you happen to buy her from a gentleman in Pleasanton, CA? I pass him from time to time in my 85 308QV, and haven't seen him around lately. Just thought he moved... Again, congrats and welcome to the family, you made a fine choice. |

The bumpers look soooooooooooooo much better with the shocks collapsed and pushed in. I did it to my car and love the look. I would like to go to a full euro front end conversion with lights and grill but only if I decide to keep the car. |

Tazio, Replacing the US bumpers with Euro bumpers involves a bit more in the way of parts. You'll need the European grill as well. After that's done, you might want to mount some driving lights as on the Euro QVs. Stick around. We'll help you spend your money! Seriously, as I mentioned yesterday, wait a bit before you modify your new car. I think you'll appreciate just how beautiful it is the way it is. Barry

Awesome Rob! I know you searched the world throughout. I even got an email from the FCA South Central President that forwarded on your message looking for a GTB. I was like "I know him!". We'll have to open up your box of Cubans to celebrate, oh wait, you sold them to me. Honestly the 308 GTB is probably my next Ferrari if I can't find a good 60's V-12 deal. |

Tazio, congratulations. Great car. I just recently aquired a 76 308GTB Fiberglass and have the car back since last Friday. Been driving it every day now and it gets better and better. Car had been sitting for a few months and loves to be taken out. My 348 is looking kind of mad with the 308 getting all the attention. What is your VIN? I want to forward the info to the 308GTB car register. Terry did yours as well. |

The bumpers are North American that have been pushed in. I have the original bumper shocks and am pulling it all out and replacing everything with euro bumpers and marker lights. |

Naaaaaaaaa the speedlines suck and are dirt ugly! You must get rid of them immediatly! I might be able to help you out, send me an email and some idea of price. I also have a '77 GTB, VIN #22265. Check profile for a pic. They are fun cars, enjoy! BTW: really if your going to sell the speedlines let me know! |

Tazio, The Sppedlines are handsome wheels, but I appreciate your eye for esthetics. You'll be happy with a set of 16" Ferrari wheels which can handle a more modern performance tire. Personally, I think you should wait a while before you sell the Speedlines. You might just wind up liking them. You are, as you mentioned, "over the moon right now." Congratulations, again, on your new car. Barry

I agree that the Speedline wheels give better handling and all but I just am not a big fan of how they look. I also got a set of the 14" wheels with the car which will be my wheels for originality. |

I'm with both Tom and Barry on this one... Keep the wheels, you will realize much better handling with them on. Then If you like get an original set if you are showing the car. |

By popular request, here is a pic of the car. In case anyone is wondering, that is not me in the car. I am not crazy about the 17" Speedline wheels so I will be selling them in favour of the 14" originals or 16" Ferrari wheels.

Thank you all for the kind words. The best part of the buying experience had to be the test drive. Within one mile of the seller's house, as I was returning, I saw a 360 coming the other way and the driver gave me a wave hello. I guess I am part of the F-Car family now. With regards to price all I will say is that it cost me somewhat less than a VW Golf GTI. I know it sounds too good to be true but the owner really tossed me a little bit of charity with the price. He took a liking to me and knew how much I treasured the car. |

A top condition, concourse winning 308 with very low miles and full documentation; quite a car indeed! I know price is a touchy matter, but if I may ask...? I would say anything less than $30k was a steal. They usually sell for more. Congratulations! |

Well it is official, I am now the proud owner of Ferrari 308 GTB Serial #20783. I just came back from California where I sealed the deal on Thursday. The whole process went as smooth as can be and I should be seeing the car sometime next week. The previous owner was a dream to deal with and he also understood that my heart was much bigger than my wallet so he was easy on me with the price. I would like to take this moment to send a huge thanks out to everyone on Ferrarichat who patiently answered my many questions and offered invaluable advice. You have all helped me tremendously and for that I thank you. With regards to the car here are the details: - 1977 308 GTB - Carburetted model with steel body - Red exterior. It is finished in the original lacquer (lightly crazed) and does not have a spot of rust anywhere - 18,610 original and well documented miles. The person I bought it from bought it with 10,000 miles 3 years ago and dropped a TON of money into it so just about every seal and moving part is new. I, of course, have all records to prove this. - Major service and A/C service within the last 2,000 miles - All of the original books, records & tool kits - The car has a tan interior which is perfect throughout - The car came with many extras including: two sets of wheels, car cover, trickle charger for the battery and assorted other tools and accessories. - The car is a multiple concourse winner and is fantastic throughout. I can’t begin to mention how excited I am and this purchase is the realization of a lifetime of dreaming. I am over the moon right now.
