The girls around the area were I live seem to really like Ferrari's of any year. I was sitting at a stop light at a very busy intersection looking straight ahead waiting for the light to change with the roof off and windows down. Next thing I know their is this beautiful girl standing beside the car in the middle of the intersection with a piece of paper in her hand asking for my autograph. I asked why she wanted my autograph and she just said "please just sign it the light is about to change" so I just scribbled somthing that resembled an autograph and gave the paper back to her. As she got back into her car, I realized she was with her boyfriend who did not look to impressed. I just had to laugh at the whole thing and continue with my drive to no were. But I must say she was a very beautiful girl(sigh...) |

Magnum was the first gay/sodomite detective on TV, although he never came out of the closet. He would date girls just to appease the TV censors of the time. |

Now that i'm thinking about it, the last older woman i was- er, intimate with, was the daughter of a professional racecar driver... he drove Porsches and some other GT cars for years... i'm not sure if her last name was her ex-husband's or her maiden name, but it's probably for the best that i don't disclose it- there are some well-to-do people on this board and they might actually know the guy and, well... you see where i'm going with this...

Fine to each their own. The number came from a line on "Married With Children" where Al came out with a classic line when he has to get glasses. His daughter on the show asks what the lady at the mall thought of his new glasses. He responded that he got a good look at her with his new glasses and said " What The hell do I care what a 40 year old woman thinks". My wife just turned 30 I'm 37 ,but she takes great care of her skin and looks much younger as does her mother and grandmother so I guess it runs in their genes. I on the other hand have never considered a old one . I have a friend that goes out with them but he's a pig. He tells me that they are grateful to have someone go out with them. He was never good at attracting girls his own age. Anyway back to the cars. WFO |

G. Peters, i happen to like 40+ year old women... i've dated quite a few... funny how they're the ones who don't give a what kind of car you own, but on the same token, understand the desire for one... The girls my age can stay at Starbucks- i'll stick with the divorcees... |

Here in SoCal (Newport Beach ) anything older than a 355 doesn't get a second look. Most girls into cars here know that a 308/328 is priced around a well equipped Camry or low end Lexus . We have so many late model high end exotics cruising PCH that the older cars stand out. As for the Magnum thing the girls that would remember that show would be around 40 why would you car what they think . WFO |

A few Magnum comments, all positive; virtually 0 appreciation from women (here in Colorado you need a pickem-up truck if you want to impress women). Kids (8-12 year olds) love it. Over all the reaction is possitive, but there are times when you really don't want all the attention it gets. |

Hey boys, thanks for the replies. Again, I've always loved Ferraris, and I'd be happy to sit in the garage with a good bottle of wine after a spirited drive, and just stare at the damn thing. But come on, don't tell me you're driving one of the sexiest cars ever and don't care about the ladies' opinion of you in it! So humor me and yourselves, I'd love to hear about the blind date's jaw dropping when you pulled up. Or the gorgeous redhead's sidelong glance from her Benz at the light (a la Hart to Hart). Isn't this part of the fun of Ferrari ownership? |

I doubt Nadar needs us to tell him for what reasons he should get his Ferrari. It's not like he said he wants a Ferrari for the sole reason of picking up girls. It is a legitimate question. Nadar, welcome to F-chat. I can't give an answer since I have yet to find out! But as for chicks, they dig puppies, BIGTIME! |

I learned a long time ago don't buy a nice car to get chicks buy a nice car to experience the feeling the car will give, but many chicks have asked if I would take them for a ride in my 308 it is a way to meet a lot of people. I never regret purchasing my Ferrari. |

Isn't it also true that back in the 70s, most of the average American cars on the roads were big gun boat clunkers and the 308 Ferraris really stood out as a cool car? Nowadays, every Camaro since 1982 and other foreign cars like Datsun 240 and 280Zs, et cetera, have a much more streamlined look to them thereby making a Ferrari less of a standout to the general public. Today everything is designed in a wind tunnel with computers, so a sports-car-look sort of comes with the territory by design. |

I've seen it work. But the girl has to be young/cute enough that women will be so charmed, they just have to say something (usually to the girl). I can only show you the door Neo... From there it just linguistic excersize...

Women seem to like the beauty of the cars, but many will feel they have to compete against your car(s) for your attention. Many females are raised to be "practical" (whatever that means), and feel that Ferraris are overkill for a means of "getting from point A to point B". In the past 15 years, I've seen three frequent and distinct reactions from most women related to any of my Ferraris. 1) They're oblivious and don't even notice (really, not just pretending not to notice, but actually NOT notice). These are probably married women that aren't "looking" and aren't car aficionados. 2) They think you bought the car with your last 0.02 cents and probably live in a trailer. 3) They think you're probably a brat son of a wealthy family (Greg Kinnear syndrome) and are probably so pretentious they don't even want to talk to you. IMHO, bottom line by and large, the type of women that are attracted to a Ferrari are good for temporary use, but not for long-term commitments. If you really, really want to meet women (and I mean lots of em), borrow a someones 3-6 year old daughter (relative, neighbor, etc.), dress her like a doll, and take her for a walk at a crowded mall or public park. |

A lot of people are under the impression that a 328 or even a 308 is a 100k car. In the minds of those same people, someone who can blow 100k on a sports car is successful finiancially, which is a big turn on for some wiman. so YES having a 308 or 328 will get you wiman! Enjoy Andrew |

Nader, any exotic ownership is an expensive hobby. You'll get a lot more chicks by using half your maintainence budget for your dates, than by having a Ferrari. |

Wade, with regard your youngest daughter- that's awesome...! Nader, i agree with Bob, get the Ferrari 'cause you like it- not 'cause of what the chicks might think. Like the old saying goes: "If you Ferrari... they will come." (Ok, so i made that up, but still, it sounds cool...) |

My wife and 6-year old girl "dig it" too. They think it's very "groovy". They do not call me Magnum PI. Are you concerned "chicks" won't think you're cool if you drive a 15-20 yr old F-car.... are you afraid they won't "dig it"? Maybe they'd "dig" a Testarossa? Are you sure you're buying this thing for the right reason??? |

Hello, new guy here. I've always loved Ferraris, and have had semi-serious thoughts of owning one for the last few years. I think I can pull it off, but it'll have to be a 308 or 328. I'll research the pros and cons of each, and am familiar about maintenance costs, but what I want to know is: How much female attention do these older Ferraris get? Do you get any flack about the whole Magnum PI thing? Thanks. |
