That's awesome Chris. If I remember right your baseline was around 430? Nice Gains! We have been doing some work to the Firehawk and have it up to 394/388 N/A at the tires. Have you talked to Stephen P. lately? If not I'll pass along the good news. :-)

As cool as it is I doubt it sounds like a P4.

Let's see - its wicked fast, handles better than new, brakes that will snap your neck off, sounds like an P4, looks better than any other F40 (special wheels and carbon spoiler), has been on the cover of FORZA, been driven hard by one of the four Red Bull drivers, and is in K.C., MO. Spoiled rotten sounds just about right for Mr. Parr. Woops...one shouldn't be jealous around Christmas time.

Nice numbers. Can you post the dyno run as I would be interested to see it?

Very nice Chris

Sounds like you are having so much fun. Just wish I could have gotten a ride from either you or Tim, when we were at Buttonwillow.

Mark make a post after you get your b;own motor finished. I bet it will be awsome.

Nice numbers! Do you know how much boost you're running? I'm building a new blower set-up on my 308 that should push the boost up to the 20-25 psi range and I think return similar HP numbers. Dop you know why the duno shop using a 25% loss instead of the standard 16% to calculate the crank number?

Tim,

I think I paid $1,500 for the chips, not positive, but that number seems right.

The thing I did not mention, ALL of this horsepower is usuable, the power curve is VERY flat, the LM's added over 50hp at 7,500 rpm and is still pulling when the rev limiter kicks in.

This is very different than stock turbo's that run out air long before redline.

Write the check! You can install this yourself, I had some friends over last Sunday, we installed the turbo's in less than 6 hours, including a lunch break!

Chris
Drop gears are the way to go. In my MK-IV I used them to go from a 2.99 (223MPH) to a 4.56 (170 MPH). With 550ftlbs at the crank and these gears I can bring the tail out and correct with opposite lock at almost any speed. This also keeps me in the sweet spot of the cam at lower speeds which on the street works better. In my Lola, which I also drive on the street I repalced the 4 speed Hewlet (which gave me a 70MPH first gear!) with a 5 speed GT40 ZF with a lower rear for the same reasons.
It sounds like you have a great F40.

Tim, the Carobu chips are better than what you and I had when we were at Buttonwillow.

I have been driving with just the chips for the last 2 months, they are noticable with positive results.

A stock F40 will have approximatly 400hp at the rear wheel and about the same number for torque.

A Tubi system like the one you are running (competition with no cats) will add about 30hp, the carobu chip should get you to around the 455 mark.

The LM turbo's increased me 27hp at the rear wheel. This thing is starting to get crazy fast.

The Turbo's and chip package is about $7,500, cheap for 60hp at the rear wheel.

The drop gears will reduce top end to about 176, but it cheats the torque, it is as if you increased torque by 9%, in my case, putting me to a hypthetical 480ft lbs. That is wheel spinning numbers in every gear!

Awesome Chris. can you feel it seat of the pants?

did you run the car on the street before the turbo's and when you put in the Carobu chips? if so was it better than what we had?

Last Sunday we installed LM spec turbo's on the F40.

The results were better than expected.

Horsepower went from 455 to 482 at the rear wheel, the dyno shop calculated this to 601hp at the flywheel.

Torque actually dropped a bit to 431ft lbs from 433 due to the larger turbo's.

The computer chip we are using is Carobu's and the fuel mixture line is perfectly flat throught the rpm range, absolutely perfect.

Time permitting we will go to a lightened flywheel, race pack clutch and new drop gears with a 9% reduction early next year.

Too much is just enough!
