When my wife was a child, her father died in a convertible. She is simply not confortable with me or our daughter driving in a convertable. Even if her concern is unfounded, I will give her the respect and not get a convertible. I personally love the mondial cab. I also can't complain since my wife bought me a Lotus Esprit V8 for father's day. |

you daughter can't drive in a cab? I take my kids in mine all the time. IF you are just doing sunday driving then I would get the cab, if you are going to do track time and drive a lot in bad weather then get the coupe |

I read the Forza article and found it very helpful. I am considering the mondial coupe because I want to be able to drive with my 2 1/2 year old in the car. As I have other cars, it will probably a Sunday driver since my wife works on Sundays and I spend all day with my daughter. |

Mark, If you didn't see it, go find a copy of the very recent Forza magazine issue with the Mondial Coupe Buyers guide. It gives a lot of good info for people like yourself, looking to get a Mondial Coupe. If I remember correctly the biggest red flag was the electrical system. Many Mondials had gremlins in this area; lights not working, sunroof not functioning, etc. They make for very good daily drivers. I had a brief ride in a 3.2 coupe and enjoyed it. It's "practical" (compared to other Ferraris) with 4 seats. However, it won't keep up with a 328 unless you drop them both off a cliff at the same time!! LOL In general the Coupe was never considered "THE" Mondial to get. Everyone wanted to be seen driving the Cabrio so those were better selling Mondials. (Personally, I like the lines of the Coupe better). Therefore, it will be a little tougher to find a selection of quality Coupes on the market. The "T Coupe" is supposedly in very short supply here in the US, very rare! The "T" was the last of the Mondials and had the 3.4 engine but the 3.2 is probably more than adequate and less expensive. Either one will be a good choice, just check the servicing on it and make sure nobody cut any corners along the way. |

IMHO mileage DOES matter, only because I tend to be picky about condition, and there seems to be a direct relationship between the mileage and condition. Yes, there are cars that get very nice repaints, and seats restored, but still, the other areas can still show the age... I am not into "garage queens", but overall, I would rather have a car with 35k on it than 78k miles. Beyond that, I want lots of documented service history, not only to show that the car has been well cared for, but to support the mileage of the car. Let's face it, many low mileage Ferraris have had their speedometer senders disconnected; it isn't all that hard to unplug from the transmission...and shame on those that do! I have bought a relatively low mileage 308 (15k) and had a major done, with all the coolant and fuel hoses replaced. Can ran great. Just do your homework and you will be fine. BTW, in referrence to you original question, a reasonable amount of miles in my book would be around 25k to 45k, just make sure the service history is up to date, and if not, factor that into the selling price. |

Through my experiance working on cars, any car for that matter,I've noticed that cars that are older with low mileage tend to have more problems then ones that are driven more often. I had a customer that bought an 82 mondial8 with very low miles and the car needed a complete fuel system rebuild,as well as the cooling system, including the water pump and rad. The tires had to be replaced because of age and of course the timeing belts and the rest of the regular manitence had to be performed. Needless to say the bill was huge money and I think he also over paid for the car. You must do your homework when looking to buy a car with very low milage. |

Does the mileage matter on the odometer if the car has been mechanically rebuilt and nice cosmetically? Just wondering how people feel about that. |

I would not be afraid of a low mileage 3.2 or 3.4 as long as there are receipts to back up the mileage and periodic fluid changes (including radiator and brakes). The major mechanicals are good for well over 100K miles with proper maintenance. DAve |

They say it all teh time, a well driven F-car is more relaible than a garage queen. IMHO, I would say depending on year try for a car that got 2-3K miles a year(maybe even 3-4k...see what others say); that way it wasnt killed, and wasn't sitting all day |

I am thinking about purchasing a Mondial T Coupe or Mondial 3.2 Coupe. I normally only buy new cars so I am a little wary of cars with a lot of miles. What should be the acceptable mileage for these cars, how many miles are too much and anything else to be concerned with. Thanks |
