There is more to downforce than just adding a wing. Just because your throw and big wing on the back doesn't mean you are creating downforce. The 360 already had spent more time in a wind tunnel than any other car on the road (and I'm guessing this wing spent zero hours). If Ferrari's designers and engineers thought a wing was needed they would have added one. Also you have no idea what the air is like around that area of the car (unless you can find pictures of it in the wind tunnel with the top down) which could mean that the air in that area is not entirely stable. I'm willing to bet this wing only creates more drag. But as someone noted below do you really race this?

Personally I think the person that did this has no taste but just likes to really be noticed and didn't think a Modena was enough to achieve this, so he/she added this crap that says, "Look I'm a dumbass and I really don't know anything about cars."

I seem to remember seeing the Ferrari GT1 F50 run a few years ago that had a factory wing just like the one in the picture.

The more I think about it, the more I think that's held on by velcro and it was someone's idea of a 'cool thing' for the show.

Gentalmen:
Under a high rate of speed, wouldn't the downforce of that rear spoiler bend and rip off if not connected properly??
That looks like poor planning to me.

I might not like it, but it's his car. He made the money to buy, he can do what he likes to it. If everyone did the same thing the world would be a boring place...

Granted, that the wing creates additional downforce. But it is a spider! So, do you really think the wing is necessary? I mean aren't you being 'sucked' out of the cockpit before you reach the speeds, where you'd actually need the additional downforce?

Everybody to his/her own, but a spider for me was all about cruisin' along the ocean front. If you want to go racin', well, get a berlinetta and all the wings you think you need.

Undertray or not, a wing will still make downforce... I don't see what the big deal is... besides it looking a bit overdone...

DES the feelings I have are emotionally charged. They come from my heart. If someone puts a hideus wing like that on a ferrari. Then in my opinion, they don't deserve to the ferrari and if it was upto me, the ferrari will be desecrated.

James- that is true, but 360 challenge drivers were complaining, saying that it needed a wing but ferrari was too anti-wing because of all the work they put into the under body tray.

That cars undercarriage is designed to create a vacuum underneath the car for downforce (hence the no need for a rear spoiler), but since the guy installed a rear exhaust spoiler (what's the point?) I guess he just negated the effect. MORON.

Andrew, i understand your passion for not wanting to see someone adorn a Ferrari with something that most agree doesn't belong, but...
...what if your neighbor (or you, when you get it) had his 550 keyed by someone who doesn't like red Ferraris with black leather...? If that happened to your neighbor, would you say, "hey, he got what he deserved"...? If it happened to you, would you just chalk it up to 'someone just didn't like it' and not be mad...? i think you'd be pretty heated... but it just goes along the same lines as this... Whoever slapped that wing on there, likes it... thinks it belongs there or thinks it looks nice there... who are we to tell him he's wrong or he's not a true enthusiast 'cause he added an extra part to his car...?

Maybe he knows more than the rest of us (except L. Wayne) about Ferraris... maybe he knows something we don't and his wing signifies the ultimate in Ferrari enthusiasm, but we're just too blind to see how or why...? You see what i'm getting at...?

(Oh, and by the way, just for the record, i don't really have a problem with the rims... they actually fit pretty well with the rest of the car, especially the changes made to the rear...)

DES i hate to sound like this, but your wrong. that car is molested ..If i saw that 360 in the street with that wing and those stupid rims i would have someone key it. Sorry with that wing i dont see a ferrari..i see a ferrari waiting to get out from under the POS that surrounds it.

LOFL! I think the steak dinner (funny stuff, Arlie) would look better on the back of the 360. Ooffff.... sure DES, I agree 100%, to each his own and all dat, but that wizzing is like throwing a plastic rain suit on a supermodel. But hey, things like that can be removed. Sweeeeeeeeeet!! But one will need some Bondo...

Jeeez, I can only imagine the vision of someone leaning on an electric drill, wailing away on the engine cover of that beautiful 360 in preperation for the mongoid wing installation...oooh, THE PAIN!!!

Arlie:

i, for one, would sever several digits from several random fingers before i'd let someone put long horns on my Ferrari, if i owned one- i'm just not into that. I'm not saying this Ferrari looks good, i think the spoiler, or wing as you guys call it, is... what's the word my father used to use... um, TACKY...! that's it, tacky...

But that doesn't make the owner any less of an aficionado- it's just his preference to do what he pleases... agreed...?

Arlie: a wing that may not suit your tastes does not define whether the person attaching the wing is an enthusiast. Even if said individual understands aerodynamics and down force, etc, s/he may like the look of the wing. Some real, true enthusiast out there owns the 330 GT that Randy posted a pic of, in his 'Name That Ferrari!' thread and i think the entire car is fugly... to each his own- style does not make the enthusiast, the enthusiast makes her/his own style.

And you guys had the nerve to razz me when I dared to suggest that most newer Ferraris were bought by rich guys who were not TRUE Ferrari enthusiasts. What true Ferrari enthusiast would add some 2 bit wing-thing to the back of his car like that? That thing looks like it would fold up with 50 pounds of down force.

Matt & Todd:

i understand all of that, but i'm confused because why say it's been ghetto-ized when no one in the ghetto can afford to do those things to a car...? All the "ricers" (another not-so-friendly term) that i know or see, live in areas outside of the ghetto... Anyone with any amount of "bling bling" lives outside of the ghetto...

DES,

Often ghetto-ization refers to ricing in many parts.

Hang glider wing, coffee can exhaust, neon lights, loud stereo(-unbalanced components maily bass), primered only car, no rear view mirror ect...

You know, if they want to put a proper wing on it, they should have used the wing from the 360GT race car.
