Bruno, that is an MSRP guide that list the price of what the cars sold for when new. So what one sells for now is irrelevant.

Remember this link is not based on asking prices, speculation, etc. It is based on actual sale results.Regardless ,if one disagrees or agrees with the pricing quoted, it is what the cars are doing at the present time.
It's ugly.

David,I find that the cars are selling very close to the numbers posted by this link or less.If the dealer wont budge, "If it's not a Ferrari dealer I wouldnt buy from him anyway" Walk. There are plenty of private party sales out there. These cars are depressed right now. It's a pure buyers market.

what a great resource! it only goes up to MY 1994, but that's probably why the numbers are fairly accurate.

thanks for the link, bruno.

Jim,

In one instance the 308 I saw had an off-color interior, dings all over, gasket leaks, broken bonnet struts, etc. I got estimates to repair it and I felt that adding the cost to the buying price would have pushed it out of my reach. I didn't want to buy at a premium knowing that the car needed a lot of work. I don''t expect perfection from a 17 year old Ferrari, but the price, in my opinion should have been closer to book value considering its condition. The seller said to me that you won't find many 308's in better condition for anywhere near his price and he would not lower it one penny. I said sorry, but I'm passing on it. It turns out, the car sat for an additional 4 months (6 before I saw it) so a lot of people were turned off by it.

It is worth what someone will pay. If you want it then buy it unless the price is ridiculous. If you can wait to find the deal of the century then wait. If you found exactly what you are looking for then is it worth it to pay a bit extra to get it?

I am a cheap bastard and try to get the best deal I can and I don't own a fcar because of it. These are emotional cars and people won't "give" them away. Dealers will try to make a profit, but they have to to stay in biz.

It is all relative. I know this doesn't help you, but it boils down to how bad you want it vs how bad he wants to sell it.

OK, let's take it a step further... How should one use this kind of pricing information? Say, for example, someone (OK, me) is in the market to buy a 308 GTSi. And say for example, an independent dealer has one for sale that the buyer has checked out and wants to buy. Now, let's say the dealer's asking price is $4-5K ABOVE what the "book" value says it is worth.

What should be the buyer's next move? Tell the guy to lower his price by $5K or else? What if he doesn't budge by even 1 cent? How should one continue negotiating with such a dealer, or is it better to walk away and let 'em try to rip off someone else who may not know the "book" value.

Any ideas, advice, please!! By the way, in my case, I walked away....

Although both the 1982 400 and 1982 Boxer were gray market cars, the 1982 400 is listed while the 1982 Boxer is not.

Ya it's pretty accurate. It's based on selling prices not asking. It's got 4 condition ranges and it gives you horsepower and production numbers in some instances.

Seems the carbed 308's are doing better than the early injected cars.
