I just did this modification to my 308 this past weekend. It is a real easy job and there is a great description written up here http://www.ferrariclub.com/faq/308headlights.html
Check it out, it really is a nice improvement to your car. I found that you don't have to cut the wire as described, but you can cap it if you are concerned about being able to undo your handiwork. Then you just add a new connector into the mix and you are all set. Read the description and you might understand what I'm trying to say. Hey it's been a long day...
