J, that sounds awesome, congratulations...! i hope you take pictures and post them when you get it... Sorry to hear about your problems at the Ferrari dealership- that really puts a damper on things... i've heard alot of mixed stories about salespersons at Ferrari dealerships on here... It's certainly possible that you just got a bad apple... In any case, congrats on your new purchase and maybe the next time you go to a Horse stable, you'll get someone who's not so much of a butt head... |

As some posts have mentioned, the BS surrounding an F-Car purchase is not acceptable to me. In October I made 2 appointments in 1 day. First to the local Ferrari dealer (in Toronto, Canada) to discuss a 360 Spider, and the second appointment at the Lambo dealer to discuss the Gallardo (called the L140 at that time). The Ferrari dealer was very abrupt, somewhat pompous, and made me feel like a second class citizen. The Lambo dealer had an assortment of snacks, deserts and coffees waiting for me, and made me feel like I was a valued customer. The Lambo dealer was much more prepared for my visit, with a complete facility tour. At the end of the day, I purchased the Gallardo, and should be one of the first to take delivery. I would still like to purchase the new 420 Spider, but unless the situation changes at Ferrari dealers, I will probably pass on that car. Based on the attitude of the Ferrari dealers, I am really looking forward to taking delivery of my new 500hp 4WD Gallardo, and visiting my friends at the local F-Car shop. |

From the test I have read Lambos have almost always been faster than Ferrari road cars. The problem Lambo has always had is it didn't race. Now that Audi owns Lambo I suspect we will see Lambo starting to race its cars in the near future. If that occurs, and they win a few, the Lambo name will gain some crediablity and move closer to the icon that is Ferrari. |

You said it, Brett. It's a great time for supercars - everyone's got 10 items to pick from, and (as it usually is), the only limited factor is capital. If you want a Z8, you had better act soon. I've got the last US model and it's already at the docks, delivery at the end of this month. There are still a few running around that haven't been bought yet, but the selection's getting pretty narrow. --Dan |

However it all works out, I'm thrilled with the options that are opening up for the ~$150K range. My next car (after some investments that I should have done 2 years ago -- learning firsthand sucks) will be in that range, before I get to step up to the Vanquish/Murc/Rolls/Maybach territory, and I'm overjoyed at the possibilities: 360 Spider Bentley GT Baby Murc Benz SL600/55 BMW Z8 New Aston It's a great time to be almost-rich!! |

Sorry again for the O/T: DES, You can get a copy either online (PC/Macmall, PC/Macconnection, PC/MacZone, etc.) or at your local CompUSA, Microcenter, etc. I don't remember the differences b/w the full version and Elements but I think you can find them listed on Adobe's website www.adobe.com. These days, if you want to go far in the graphics biz, you MUST become an expert in Photoshop. However, it is NOT possible to learn everything there is to know because it is very deep. I've used it for over 10 years and have trained people in the past to use it, and even so, I still don't know how to utilize all the funcitons. That's what is so cool about it...You can do anything, with just some patience and determination. There are a bunch of Photoshop forums and boards on the net you can check out to help you get started or for assistance along the learning curve. Getting Back ON TOPIC: I don't think the new Lambo will make any difference for either Ferrari or Lambo sales. Yes, some people will switch sides but that happens constantly in any competitive industry. Just look at the recent past b/w Ferrari and Lamborghini. Ferrari sold plenty of TRs and Lamborghini managed to live on Countach sales. Then the Diablo came out and brought Lamborghini back from the dead. Didn't hurt Ferrari too much. Both managed to coexist just fine. I suspect that if money were no object, most enthusiasts would love to have BOTH Ferraris and Lamborghinis in their garages. I know I'd like that... |

I think we're about to see a great time for Lamborghini. The cars, from the diablo (especially the 6.0) moving forward to the Murc (a friend is using his *daily* in SF - if you know how hilly that is, you can call him insane, and the car extremely reliable) - have improved DRASTICALLY. Allen can attest to how reliable his SV is, but the newer cars put even his to shame in that respect. Starry-eyed looks, dimensions and the comedy doors aside (they're not that bad) - the car itself is a 'practical' proposition. Lamborghini as a company has been rather desperate, which is why of the 14 dealerships in the country, half of them look like budget shops (Stanford Euro, Paul Spruell, etc.) because lamborghini really had no choice. Now that they have Audi behind them (and I don't think Audi has affected the 'soul' of the brand, however we're all waiting for the baby car) - I think we'll see lamborghini make big steps towards being selective on dealers and dramatically increasing their service centers (and quality of such). It's already happening, as Stanford Euro is losing their Lambo title to the whole BMC conglomerate in SF (who opened a new building next door just for Aston and Lambo). Good times for the marque - I just hope the baby car isn't *too* wild (not terribly keen on the Murc rear). --Dan |

David, i used to work for a graphic design company, so a few of those high end tools might actually be something i might need... But i want to get it for my little cousin, as he's heavily into computer graphics and seems to be really good at it, so far... i'd hate for it to be missing something, as he's a quick learner and will soon find himself stuck if all the tools aren't there... Thank you, though, for the look out, i appreciate it... i haven't done graphics in several years, but might pick up a low end copy as you mentioned, just to play around with... Any idea where i might pick one of those up...? |

O/T for DES: You can go and get a boxed copy of Photoshop Elements 2.0 for a lot less than the $700 full version. It's under $100 last time I looked. It has most of the features you will ever need and leaves out a few that only the high end pros rely on. |

Nick: The preferred customer BS with the ferrari dealers is the reason for my looking into the new lambo as well. I can't see myself kissing ass for the f-dealers to take $190K from me. |

The main consideration for me would be availability of dealer/warranty service. Unless Lambo empowers Audi dealers to service the cars, I think it will be a hard sell. Not that Ferrari dealers are common, but in my neck of the woods Lambo dealers don't exist. |

That thing looks outrageously aggressive. Are you sure it will be priced at only $180k? If so, it is an attractive price. But for my part, I will probably still go for the 360 when it comes to it, even if it might cost more. The 360 just seems to be more matured and considerate. |

DES, try ebay. Luckily I didn't pay for mine, my brother bought it to help him through film school but he never used it so he gave me his copy. It is a rediculously expensive program *so is premeire, another one of my favoriteS*, but its worth it if you do a lot of image editing. It can do some amazing things! Like making semi-realistic looking fakes like these |

Allan is right, thats photoshop work. You can recognize it on the lines surrounding the headlights and on the front of the hood. You can also see in the lower center corners of hte headlights where the forger tried to blend the yellow colors but didnt succeed Sorry, im picky Especially when it comes to photoshop...I am very familiar with the program. |

Nick If you are not a preferred Ferrari customer, whose yellow 360 spider is in the driveway under your profile? That's a preferred customer to me. |

I would be interested in what the Roadster will look like. I understand they may preview it at the Detroit Auto show next week. My main concern regarding Lambo's in the past has been the reliability issues. However since VW now owns Lamborgini I suspect they are a much better cars in every respect. Also, since I am not a preferred Ferrari customer( despite my best efforts) the likelihood of me buying a new F-Spider is nil. Therefore I must look elsewhere. |

Yes. If the Lambo is easier/quicker to get into it will take sales away. There are many competitors coming on board and only so many buyers, especially in a down market. I expect Ferrari to prevail, but everyone may suffer somewhat. But then, if the waiting lists shrinks from 2-3 years to one year, have they really been hurt? Time will tell. |
