Today was a mild day, so I drove the car with the windows down. Driving during these few winter months with the windows up, I forgot about those "sounds". Man was it sweet to hear that: "BRRAAAPPPP!" while blipping the throttle for those downshifts. And the subsequent burbling on the overrun... And the ROAR on the excelleration... Oh man...

Carbs baby, carbs...

I wonder if its because of the air flowing through the auxiliary and main venturis that causes that "sound"? Or, I suspect its due more to the fact that the K-Jetronic-equiped cars have the air-flow sensor plate to muffle the induction roar...

Great sound, almost F1 like. Pretty much all you can hear is the blower.

I think I figured out how to put the dyno mpeg on line. Sorry if it doesn't work.

Having had a 77 308 and now a 84 Euro QV (no cats!)... The sound on the intake was MUCH better on a carbed car.. It made a great "sucking" sound - you could hear the engine gulping the air. Exhaust sound on my QV ROCKS...

So, to sum up: They both sound great... If I had to choose, I'd stick with my QV.

Cory,
The I had a well sorted carb 308 and with test pipes and K&N, the sound was glorious...

Gota love them carbs. It a pleasant sound when you run through town in 3rd. Also when you do the Ferrari tune-up you just cant beat the WOT noise.

I've never been in a carbed 308, but I'm very happy with the sounds my injected model makes.

Carbs rule. Especially over the 81-82 early injected cars.

Definitely!! My biggest complaint is that the air intake is right next to the PASSENGERS ear on a 'GT4

Have never rode in an injected 308 but I like the sound from my carbs. Its especially noticable with the right window open at any speed but really howls at WOT and high rpms.

To all the 308 owners with webers. Do those carbs really make a meaner sound than the injected cars. Me and my curious ears would like some opinions.
