My Maserati has a software upgrade that has a "low 1/R" mode for parking and creeping to fix this problem. You engauge 1 and downshift left paddle again. 1 and R flash and you are in low range. If you can smell the clutch this is NOT good. Perhaps they can install this new software or adjust your box. |

I have heard that with the F1 transmission, it is easy for the owner to treat the gearbox as if it were an automatic. So, for instance, if you crawl along in traffic in 1st gear at a slow pace, then that might be taken as the equivalent of "hanging the clutch" in 1st gear, which would burn out the clutch in no time at all. |

Went out for a drive today and on 3 occasions starting in 1st gear I could smell a liitle clutch burn. This the first time I've noticed this happening. Got back too late to call the dealer. The car has only 750 miles easy miles. I know the F1 has a reputation of "eating" clutches. But isn't this a little too soon? What do you think? Ignore it and just drive or take it into the dealer? |
