Everyone...thanks again for the welcome! Anthony, Thanks for the tips for Maranello, I've been to Venice twice before but never to Maranello. You don't happen to have any tips for Las Palmas, Grand Canary Islands do you? I'm heading there next weekend |

Hi Jesse, When in Maranello if you go to the 'Pit Stop Bar' which is opposite the entrance to the Galleria you can order a cappacino like this:
You could then go to the Cavallino Restaraunt which is across the road from the factory gates and have a starter like this:
Don't forget to see the Gilles Memorial which is on your right as you are walking away from the gates of Fiorano:
There is also a really nice Enzo Ferrari memorial outside the Hotel Domus:
Have a really great time there! There is also the Ferrari shop near the Cavallino Restaraunt, F1 Warm Up (great shop) near the Galleria and the Mille Miglia trophy in the foyer of the Cavallino. I'll be back there in April. Can't wait!! |

Hey Jesse, nice looking 308! By the way, I like your nickname, Hoffmeister is one of my favorite composers from the Classical period...if you intended it for that or not |

OK Jesse, just wanted to make sure we all weren't being fed a line. Like the guy who posted a photo of his Testarossa after a Miami test drive. Then another poster reminded him that his test drive photo was actually taken in Honolulu! He was busted right there. I've worked for KATV in Little Rock, Arkansas for 21 years, and James Leake senior is part of our heritage. Sort of like mentioning dear departed Grandpa.

Horsefly, Sorry...he's actually James Leake III. One of the Army Sargents that works below my shop here went to school with Jim and his wife. Anyway here's his info if you are looking for a good guy to do business with: James C. Leake III [email protected] Phone: 918-254-7077 www.leakecar.com |

Jesse, that's a nice car that you bought. I notice that you said that you "recently" purchased the car from the Leake Auction House of Tulsa, Oklahoma and that "thru the whole ordeal Jim Leake and I have become friends." I find this curious. James Leake, the former owner of television station KTUL in Tulsa, Oklahoma and KATV in Little Rock, Arkansas, DIED nearly 2 years ago. James Leake was the former owner of the television stations and owned the auto auction business. His ONLY son, named John, also DIED about 10 years ago. So how did you and James Leake recently become friends? Is there more than one James Leake?

When in Modena, pay tribute to the Gilles Villeneuve statue. As a 308 owner you have a moral obligation! ;-) |

Jesse, great looking car, sorry that you haven't been able to touch, hear or smell it just yet, that's really something to look forward to. I'm sure we have some members here that would be willing to exercise the car for you. DES, where are you boy, speak-up. |

Hey guys. Thanks for the welcome! Frank...no problem with the photos. I have a digital camera and plan on taking MANY MANY pictures. I just wish I had some more pictures of "my own" Ferrari, since I won't be seeing it anytime soon. If anyone (USA'ers) needs any info/suggestions concerning a visit to Europe, I'd be happy to give it. I've been almost everywhere in Europe over the last 5 years. Just send me email. Thanks again for the welcome. Jesse

I just wanted to drop a line and say hello. My name is Jesse. I'm currently working as a US DoD contractor in Kosovo for the US Army. Next month will mark the end of my 5th consecutive year overseas here in Europe. I spent a little over three years in Germany starting in Feb 98' and come April 03' will be my 2nd full year here in Kosovo. I've been checking the posts here on FChat quite regularly and love the way this site promotes free technical advice as well as "other" topics of interest. I recently purchased a 1981 Ferrari 308 from Leake Auction House of Tulsa, Oklahoma and have been learning as much as possible about it by reading all the excellent and informative posts in the technical Q&A section. I'm not exactly sure when I'll be able to return home to the good old US of A and actually "touch and drive" it, but I can't wait. I know that buying a car thru the internet can be risky but I think this turned out well and thru the whole ordeal Jim Leake and I have become friends. Anways, I'm currently planning a trip next month to go to Venice for Carnival and a side-trip to Maranello to visit the Ferrari Museum. If anyone has any "reasonable" requests for anything there, please let me know. Well thanks again and be safe. Take care, Jesse
