No rubber boots John. But you could stick a little foam rubber inside the housing to help catch some of that trash that might get in there. |

I used Lithium grease, white. Works well. |

Thanks for the Info. Tom!! I just re-assembled and installed - works better than it ever has! - Tom, does your shifter have a rubber boot over where the shift rod enters the housing? I noticed a large amount of debris in mine - which is what prompted this in the first place> Johnny |

John, Be sure to clean and lube the shifter rod where it slides in the aluminum case, the thimble with spring that is the centering device for the shifter and the ball pivot. To clean it properly will require disassembly. Only a moderate amount of grease is needed on these parts. I use a moly lub. |

Does anybody know what type of grease or lubricant should be used on the front shift lever box (shifter) - I pulled mine and can't seem to find any reference as to what should be added?? JJ |
