My SUV is a work horse for me PSK, but I still want to have some sort of enjoyment if I drive it. Hence the killer stereo, custom paint job and carbon fiber interior. For simple enjoyment of driving - yes my 308 is a beauty. But I can't be always on the road for pleasure. The Cherokee may not be the perfect car - but it serves its' purpose well. |

I totally agree Ryan. They show no respect to other road users.Same goes for MPV drivers, just because their car is big and they have a higher driving position they think they own the road.At least its the case here in france. |

You gotta love the SUV drivers that suddenly think that they are invincible while driving them. Most of them shouldn't be driving period. |

Nika, Not sure if you are being funny or not ... ?, but that is the problem with SUV's they can do almost everything, but nothing perfectly ... thus a huge compromise vehicle. Most of us would like a vehicle that puts driving enjoyment first and if the dog food cannot fit in, well, er, um the dog goes hungry Pete ps: I have a van for the spare rim, and oil, etc. but it does not pretend to be a good handling performance car ... just a van. |

I disagree with your PSK - I believe an SUV is the ultimate vehicle to get you from A to B if you have to stop and pick up the dry cleaning, grab a 50lb bag of dog food, take a set of rims and tires to be balance, buy some groceries and pick up a case of oil.......something I did one day last week. I had more fun in the Mini Cooper going from A to B. The SUV was a godsend when going A to M or N.

The problem with SUVs is that they are the ultimate vehicle when the goal is just to go from A to B. And from where I sit, going from A to B is not what it is all about, but HOW and HOW fast you go from A to B. Thus SUVs are the vehicles a passionless, non-automotive enthusiast would design ... way to bl**dy practical. It is the beginning of the end for less practical cars ... Pete ps: I'm not surprised that Michelle (or anybody) was faster than Eddie Irvine up Goodwood ... he probably had his mouth open , plus the Jaguar would not have been 'next' years model when they are supposeably going to get it right ... which ofcourse will never happen . They probably sacked somebody again in the time it took for me to write this post. |

Nika After seeing Michelle Mouton(sp?) The french rally champion drive up the Goodwood hill faster than me in my MK-IV and Eddie Irvine in the Jag FI, I came to more than realize that the only thing that racerchick needs to leave the boys behind is a gas pedal. |

Designed for women? Really? It's available in pink? It has a purse holder and a nail dryer? Don't forget it needs a rear view mirror that doesn't make you look fat!

This is what happens to cars when they are designed for women. I know I'm gonna get an ear full for that comment but so what. The other thing that gets on my nerves is that the "SUV" will never see any real 4x4 action. If you are gonna get a 4x4 then use it. I have a 4x4 Expedition, that has done quite a bit of off roading. It has been through the sand, snow, dirt, and mud. I have had it out in the middle of the mountains 14 miles from the closest paved road. It has done pleanty off tough climbs. I have even gotten it stuck on the cross beam that protects the transfer case. When we first got it, people were shocked to see me in my new Expedition 4x4ing. That is what is was built for, to get dirty, to get mud all over it, to go throught the snow, to go into the middle of the mountains, to get you in and out of places that a normal car cannot go! If you aren't gonna use it how it should be used then get a station wagon. |

With the way the world is going who knows? Speed channel has great coverage of that race. Truely wild. P has won it in the past, perhaps F can try with the Kubang. You have to be carefull with names for your SUV's. The one VW chose for their new one is the name of a SubSahara Tribe known for dealing in slaves. Did you check out that 956/962? |

William The reason I ordered a Cayanne is twofold. That's what my wife wanted and after being happily married for over 30 years whatever she want's she gets. Two its nice to know that if you have to drive from Paris to Dakar you've got the right vehicle to do it in. Best Jim PS check out the P 956 thats for sale in the Lambo thread it's the all time Nurburgring record holder. 6:11! |

I think a Ferrari/Maserati SUV would have been marketable 5 years ago but the SUV backlash is really ramping up in the US. It would be interesting trying to sell an SUV from a company with a reputation of poor reliability compared to the Japanese, the SUV kings. |
