I emailed the seller and he emailed back that the sale was a mistake. That's good enough for me. I may be in the minority, but I have dealt with a lot of great car dealers over the years. High on my list of good dealer brands are Ferrari, BMW, Porsche, MBz and Rolls Royce-Bentley dealerships. I must be lucky I guess! If you need a name let me know.I always work with the sales manager or owner- I think that helps.

This is too funny. The guy that 'bought' the car the first time also bought an NSX from a dealer in Houston. I wonder if the same guy owns both dealers and has son that's in college 'buy' his cars.

Playing the odds.I havent met an honest one yet.out of hundreds. So if I met an honest scumbag car dealer today it would be number 1. Thats about 700 to 1 odds. No thanks. Call it dealer profiling if you like.Call me an actuary. The facts are the facts.Hey mayabe it's just me. No wait every one I ever met or talked to my entire life has had similar experiences. They have to lie to make that commission check. What a bad system. Thank God I got a fleet account with my company as I buy 10-20 vehicles a year.

It's a shame that EBAY can't be trusted as a reliable source for buying a car. I bought my Ferrari through them, but not after a lot of research about the dealer selling the car. Guess it all comes down to doing your due dilgence before buying.

BTW...I don't understand how someone can make such an idiotic generalization as "I hate all car dealers" or make a ridiculous assumption that they all "refuse to be honest"? How do you know? Have you actually met every single one of them? I'm sorry, I don't remember meeting you. Oh well....

I emailed the buyer to ask him why the car was relisted
To member: supermarks

--------------------

Why is the 355 you bought relisted? I thought you got a great deal!

It kicked back to me! Unknown person then posted positive feedback!!Probably some student lackie for the scumbag dealer.

Thats it 80. I thought it was 40 to list and a % of selling price if sold.
I dont know. I never listed anything on ebay.
But 80 bucks sounds light.A great deal for a dealer for sure.

Cars on ebay are flat fee....$40 to insert, $40 if it sells, plus a few bucks for reserve auctions, etc.....so he bought some good feedback for $80ish.

He's got to pay the selling fee's to ebay to do that? What does that work out to on to pof the listing fee?
I hate all car dealers. No exceptions.I dont have a good thing to say about them.
They just refuse to be honest.
I dont think they could tell a story to anyone (having nothing to do with cars.Lets say football) and have to mix in some lies and bs.

I sent this to Safe Harbor at eBay:

This seller has offered a car for sale a few days ago and had a buy it now price which was met some 2 h later.
This is the link to the first offering:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6212&item=2400101776

The seller claims he had a smooth transaction with the buyer yet the seller relists the same item again for now a much higher buy it now price.
Link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6212&item=2400267958

The buyer is clearly the seller since this car has never moved of his lot.
If the transaction fell through I will be more than happy to buy the offered product instead of the buyer at $5,000 over the buyers price.

This jacks up the feedback rating of a buyer and seller without true transactions and gives false impressions to legit buyers/sellers.

It's a clone....hee, hee...

So it's not the same car, my mistake...but geez it looks sooooooo similar to the one that they sold for $55k....LOL

E-Bay is the best place for a shady car dealer to bring tons of traffic to his business for pennys on the dollar.

Look how easy it is... list a 355 for $55k and you have tons of people coming to look at your web site. There is no better advertising in the world.
(now you might not be able to fool F-chat guys, but there are a lot of other buyers out there )

The feedback looks pretty legit to me, but I think a lot of their cars probably have stories. Im figuring that the VIN typo gets you to give them a call and once they've got you on the line they can prep you for what you may see on Carfax. It would certainly be possible to get a good deal from this type of dealer, but I think it's fair to say that an isolated sale or two under these circumstances in no way indicates anything about market conditions. There are always fire sales of "rough" vehicles, but 99% of the 355 buyers are going to be demanding pristine examples. Anyone thinking this sale was an indicator that their $50k mint late model 355 is right around the corner is going to be disappointed.

The seller is a used car dealer. They have a website and have a bunch of cars in inventory. Most of their stuff seems priced similarly low and, oddly enough, most of the VINs posted have typos.

Why would they have sold the car that cheap if they could have sold it for $ 75,000 just as fast?

The bidder is probably the seller under different ID: They wanted to end the auction quick. Or they really input the info wrong and somebody bid it and you will see negative feedback soon on the seller since he will not go through with the auction.

maybe the seller got an good offer from someone, and end the auction earlier.

I don't think that one can buy any F355s in that price range unless car has salvage title or stolen.

The vehicle could have been totaled and still have a clean title. It only gets a salvage title if the insurance company takes possession of it. You have the option to keep the car, they just deduct the salvage value from your check. You can then repair or sell the car and it would not get a salvage title. Ive had friends 2 contacted buy someone who saw their vehicle the tow yard and called to arrange to buy the vehicle for X dollars over the buy back price. I have to believe it is quite common.

also, just b/c it doesnt have a salvage title does not mean it has not been flooded, totalled, etc. ie, if the person who owned it did not have insurance or did not claim it on their insurance,it would not ever be listed as salvaged. you would be surprised how many people with exotics don't have ins, or have other reasons for not wanting to file a claim.

I always like it when they say "clear title" because all it means is that it has no liens...

It could be salvage, flood, parts, etc...

but, it could still be a good driver.

Maybe the seller meant 156k instead of 56k. Although 156 is very high for a 355 spider. Ive never even seen a Berlinetta go that low.

Man the 355 is beautiful though...perfectly proportioned! One of the most asthetically pleasing F-cars in my opinion

Either the buyer got a great deal (and brought the market value of 355's down) or he's just bout a money pit. Thoughts?
