L. Wayne, if i ever had any serious intention of going out there, there's absolutely no way i'd go without first making & confirming a reservation...

DES, I don't think they will give you a room without a reservation!

Brian, it's nice to know that some people look forward to my input... :-)

It's hard for me to speak on this, though, as i've never been to Vegas, just Foxwoods... i'm with William, though, i'm extremely partial to Italian cuisine (extremely partial)... Certainly, if afforded the opportunity to patron Vegas, my priorities would lie in the privilege of a Ferrari hotel/monument/shrine/etc. (although my apartment should count for something, then, too... :-))

Someone mentioned a track around the hotel- that would certainly be a tremendous idea... Even if not permitted to go on the track, i would certainly go just to check it out... Unfortunately, as other said, commercialism would inevitably sink its poisonous fangs into this fine establishment and a short trip to the "gift shoppe" would break the bank... Still, i'd go without reservation...

I second John's comments. The impressionistic art collection at the Bellagio's is world class, albeit a bit small. Some of the best musicals and shows are in town (e.g. Cirque du Soleil) and even some of the themed hotels did a nice job: My personal favourite is the reconstruction of Tut Ank Amuns tomb. Never saw a better one, not even (or especially not) in Cairo.

So if a place like Bellagio meets Ferrari, it could be done in good taste. And besides: Where else do we have a place for pilgrimage in the States? The Marconi museum is about the only place that comes to my mind.

I agree, Vegas in the last 5 years has changed. There is so much money in Las Vagas that it has moved very upscale. The best resturant in the world is in Las Vegas. They have some of the best shops, most renowned chefs, the most elaborate hotels, shows that rival Broadway, and some of the most spectacular attractions in the world. Billionaires are traveling to vegas to be treated like billionaires. More money is spent in Vegas per capita that any place in the world.

If you've not been lately you should go. I think it is a great idea. Commercial yes. Bad quality, no. People are spending truck loads of money in vegas. And it looks like it.

Glassman,
You are correct. The last time I was in Vegas was 1990. It's was the wildest clash of culture chessyness that I think I ever experienced. I'm sure that its changed alot since then, but the memories still haunt me.

If they have a track in/on the grounds, COUNT ME IN!

An indoor/courtyard like karting track would be the knees of the bees. (and has clout as F1 drivers often practice/learn/stay-sharp on shifters.)

Come to think of it, the karting track is such a good and doable idea that I should give Steve Wynn a call....

Best!
Ben.

Huber,
Apparently you have not been to Las Vegas in the last five or six years. Most of the cheeze is gone. Most of it thanks to Mr. Wynn.
Las Vegas has the most bang for the buck than anywhere else in the US.

It's all over, the dream is gone. Do you realize how cheesy all of this will be? I remember talk about a Ferrari related hotel in Las Vegas. My worst nightmare is for it be like Circus, Circus. Having a lame magic act, Gary Coleman juggling chainsaws, & return of the G.L.O.W. girls. God have mercy on us all.

Maranello is a dot on the map, even modena is a pretty sleepy town. Well I suppose the land is cheaper there than Milan

If they made a roller coaster that recreated a few laps of a track in an F1 car, i would go.

I wouldn't mind sitting in a F1 car even if it was sitting still. It would be a nice pic to put up on the wall. I do agree about over commercializing the ferrari brand though.

How about if they build a private race track around the hotel where FCA & FOC members can let their horses run ? Now That would make me go to the hotel all the time :-)

I couldn't believe what I read last night. I picked up the latest issue of Cigar Aficionado magazine. My Cohiba fell out of my mouth when I read an article about Steve Wynn's latest hotel, LeReve. Apparently he has an agreement with Fiat boss Gianni Agnelli to make Ferrari a central theme. A new Ferrari/Maserati dealership will reside in the hotel, an F1 themed restaurant will be the focal restaurant and they will have clothing, videos for sale in addition to old F1 cars available for the public to view and sit in.
I had mixed emotions after putting the article down....I just hope they don't commercialize the brand to the point that it somehow becomes cheapened. At any rate, the article is in the February 2003 issue for those that are interested.
