James, I would love to do this and tried before, but so far no success. I'll try some more. Most users don't look in the archives for new messages, although many new messages are posted there each day.

Randy, that's why I think it has to do with individual browser settings and maybe company firewalls. The threads are just a flat html file and the program adds to it when a new message is added. If the program didn't add the message right when you posted it, then the message would never appear later. Your message is getting posted and your browser is looking at an old version of the html file. I've never had this problem before on FC. If you see a message disapper, tell us right away and the rest of us can check to see if it's just you or everyone.

Yes, we do several forms of local and off site back ups. Worse case would be losing a week's data. So far, everyone that has reported missing messages has them reappear some time later. Please let me know your findings Hans. I need to go back to the programmer with more concrete cause and effects, or be able to reproduce it.

Are you on a company internet with firewalls?

Thanks,
rob

I would doubt hackers would target removing only particular posts from Hans and myself every so many days. Its becomming frustrating actually, but eventually the messages will come back up.

Hans, give it two days and it will come back up.

I have a feeling this has to do with software/hardware time and however the site is being backed up. Its just a guess. But I've also looked on the forum software's site and forum - not much there. Its just a simple flat file forum.

Hans, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you!

MAYBE another disappeared post: I could have swore a while ago 4 posts were listed on the "Wanted GT4" thread. Early evening. Now, 12:30 CST, there are only 3 posts.

Hans. (Who's getting paranoid, as only GT4 posts disappear!)

Rob, i hope this site is backed up on a regular basis(site structure, plus actual contents)...on another forum i monitor(different subject area), it's been hit by hackers and WIPED out a few times in past...

just a preventative word to the wise...

Rob: Just had another message disappear! It was posted on the "Vanity Plate" thread in General Discussion. I checked to make sure it was there, as I often go back and re-edit if I make a booboo.

Now it's gone. Time was probably about 5:00ish CST.
