Early 95 F355s used a bronze valve guide. Feedback from the 348 challange racers indicated that this guide was marginal when used at racing RPMs and under racing-like condition (hot oil, long streaches of MAX throttle,...) Later 95 F355s switched to steel valve guides. This switch occured around serial number 103xxx. I know of one F355 with a low 102xxx number that had the bronze guides. I have been told that my mid 103xxx car has the steel guides. Ferrari has been rather generous in fixing this problem on cars that display the symptoms. The point of detection is typically the first engine out service (30,000 or 5 years). |

I beleive the 95s had this, it was rectified in the later model years. don't know if they did a service program or whether people just fixed them out of their own pocket |

Seems there is quite a problem on the 355's with worn valve guides no matter what the dealer says. Anyone with similar problems? Or knows something about this situation? |
