Just watched the auction again on Speed channel and have to comment on Amy. What a gorgeous woman......but what a shameless display of pandering that cheapens the whole affair. They should save her tarted up hucksterism for the muscle car buyers, no one bidding on an F car would fall for it.......now would we? Hmmm....gotta be strong.

Steve Lauren, thx for the Mondial pic...kinda surprised to see it was in the auction, not being 'resale red' and all...i caught probably a total or 3-4 hours out of all of the broadcast over the weekend, and musta heard 'resale red' at least 4-5 times...

Btw, don't remember exact date(s), but did hear the TV guys say sumpin' about a recap show, edited down to the 'good stuff' (all of Reggie's & Don's cars, no doubt, along with some 'Amy' highlights:-)), thought TV boys said sometime in March for an air date.

Hey what's with all this complaining about high collector car prices. Just last week somebody was blasting me with both barrels because I dared to talked about absurd car prices. Now everybody is jumping in with their complaints about the BJ auction circus. A friend of mine called me and was telling me about all the absurd prices. Fortunately, I don't have cable TV so I didn't need to pay a fee to see that crazy people ask for crazy prices and other crazy people pay them what they want. I knew that already. Told you so.

G -

It's just unprofessional. Maybe guys without girlfriends or wives would welcome that sort of thing. No one physically hangs on you when you go get a home mortgage, buy a big screen tv, or start a Roth IRA. Leave that stuff for the lapdancers at the local strip joint. Just my opinion...I must be getting old...

We were at the auction, very action packed . The auction promotes bidding with your ego and not with a realistic price point . But it was a good place to see a wide selection of cars.

As for Amy touching the male bidders , would you prefer a guy to touch you. This isn't brain surgery, you have set a credit line with BJ and you pretty much know how much you want to pay . How can having a girl's touch affect you.

Anyone see the GT40 Mark 1 up there- the white one w/ blue stripes? I was watching that sell- and then all of a sudden I saw the bidder- that was Mr. Stephanopolis (sp) from one of the big Aston Martin dealerships here on the east coast. I went to 2 track events at Lime Rock with him this past summer- he was driving a Aston Martin V8 Zagato... Nice guy, he won for something like 400k

I couldn't believe his car went for that much. Weren't they saying they couldn't even get the hood open?? And then on his truck as it rolled up on the block it started to overheat! I don't think the bidding got over 12k on that one

That Yankee dragster 'for display only' car is ridiculous... i wouldn't have paid more than $20 for that thing- you can't drive it...! Just my opinion... :-)

I am shocked at what people were paying to buy & sell cars there.
For the sellers there is fees based on when you want the car to appear, reserve or no reserve, and the expected selling price. It runs about $1K to get the car in.
Then there is sliding scales of commisions for both the seller and the buyer- on average B-J makes 15% on each sale.
Then there is the registration fees just to bid & the tickets to get in and watch.

Only if the car goes over 400K does the commisions go away. But then how many cars got bid over 400K? I think only one- the no-sale Jag XKSS.

Say what you want- B-J made some good bucks this weekend- millions of dollars worth of cars sold.

What did you'll think of Don Johnson's yellow Cuda he sold. Went for 140K! It had hood work like it was a hot car but under the hood was nothing special clone car. Don looked to be having a good laugh about people paying that much for it. I know I was.

Guys - Don't forget to factor in the 8% commission on each vehicle sale. That is a nice chunk of $$$ alone by itself. As for the hot shill, I'd have no problem with her getting all touchy with me...

Definitely show business... i do not know what % of the cars sold, but none of Reggie's cars sold...I don't think there is much money out there to invest in cars...the big prices for cars came at a time anyone could put a few thousand bucks in the market and then make so much more. The escalating market in the cars seemed to go along with that. We will not see those days in the stock market any time soon...so I don't think there will be many buyers for F 40 in the 400,000 range nor for Camaros in the 300 K range. Just my 2 c worth.

A few comments about the auction:
(1) The bidrunners act like it's their job to pull bids out of people rather than simply represent them. BJ has lost the class it used to have only about 5 years ago. Don't f-ing touch me when I'm about to lay out $200K for a car.
(2) It has now turned into a class reunion of Corvette Club of America, it seems.
(3) Reggie Jackson's 1969 Camaro didn't hit reserve at what, $275 or so??? He must be on crack...I thought he was Darrel Strawberry for a minute...
(4) The F40 was super clean.

Well, i have a question about a white 1988 3.2 Mondial that was supposed to go up on block. I think it may have been passed over by the TV crew on Saturday(too pedestrian of an 'exotic' ?). Anyway, this baby's been on ebay twice, once for $29,000, second time for $32,300 (even used same pic on BJ as in the 2nd ebay auction). Ideas on what gives? Shills on ebay auction, buyer's remorse, so peddle it at BJ ? Sumpin' else goin' on here???

Michael...if Amy's gay it's a tragedy. She also said she is "not in the market" for man or marriage. Could be she's in the middle of a break up or whatever. Too bad, she's a hotty. Sorry guys I know this is off topic, I'll shut up.

I was flipping channels and saw when the F40 was on the block, and saw Reggie examining the Ferrari and thinking hmmmm, he's going to bid on it. Then the talking heads said he owned the car. He owned it for how LONG, drove it only 275 or so miles, and he's gotta look at it on the stage? Givemeabreak....if he signed the dashboard maybe he would get his reserve price?

BTW, anyone watching when the anouncer asked Amy if she was interested in getting married, and she replied "I'm not interested in a man right now". Is she gay?!?!? :-)

"Did Reggie Jacksons 275GTB sell & if so how much"

I don't think it did. I saw a 275GTB go un-sold at $335k not sure who's it was.. probably Reggie.

PS don't quote me on that F40 price. I was looking at one for $250k and one for $350k and I don't remember now what was offered for Reggie's.

But..It was still dumb. The bidders fought down to a price just to have the rug pulled out from under them and a big waste of everyones time.

I agree with Martin, Reggie Jackson seemed more interested in getting some TV time and letting people think they might be able to buy one of his cars.

How about Don Johnson... seemed more interested in picking up chicks and talking about having sex in his cars. Even the announcers were getting embarrassed by his comments.

Reggie Jackson came off looking like a major Jerk!
His reserve prices were moronic. He even got boo's when a Muscle car with a blown orginal engine (car had back-up engine) got a high bid of something like $275k and he wanted $400k or some stupid thing like that. He got a bid of 350k on his F40 and it seemed fair market value.. but he wanted more. I like to nominate him for Biggest d**che-bag in the universe (sorry for the bad languge but I'm watching South Park right now) :-)

I know this may be inappropriate, but that female shill can touch me anytime anywhere! Her name was Amy Sparks and she's from Texas. She was a very nice distraction. I enjoy Alan DeCadenet as he adds a lot of character and class to the program. Reggie Jackson seems to want to talk more about himself than the cars he is selling. I also think they should call it the Mustang/Thunderbird/Corvette Auction as these cars make up 80% of all cars sold it seems. Did you see the George Barris "custom" Ferrari 308 on Friday!!! That car was an absolute abomination! What an insult to Ferraris! That car must have been "planted" to bias the audience towards the domestics and cast a bad impression of foreign cars. Also, too many commercial brakes just when cool cars are on the block, and too much wide view panning with the cameras when I really wanted to see the action......and more of that Amy Sparks too!! She was fine........of course this is all my opinion.

The rich guys have pulled their money out of the market and they're looking around for a new venue.

The sharks and pirranas have been waiting for this and they're very, very hungry, I think it's getting close to feeding time.

Remember TR's..the LAST of the REAL FERRARI FERRARI's...Ohhhhh Yeaaaaaa!

After watching 2 days I have certain negative reactions to this circus.
1)it seems the BJ shills are so good that the prices of many of the cars are inflated compared to other sources. Also the addition of Reggie Jackson and Don Johnson and their cars seems to add to the inflation.
2)The foxy looking female shill seemed to touch almost every part of the bidders anatomy. If I'm bidding on a car I don't want that touchy feely stuff.
The whole shtick is a little too show biz for me. What do you guys think?
