I meant even under the worse conditions it's only 210 on the street. 95% of the time it never gets close to that.

210oF oil on the street? Hmmm, maybe your climate contributes to that. Perhaps someone on the board can recomment a specific cooler installation as I've not done one for a street 328. I'm not sure where there is room.

We installed them in place of the A/C condenser on 348's, but I'm sure you want to retain your climate control. The oil-to-water is a great way to add cooling capacity. Aeroquip gives engineering data on the amount of energy added to the water cooling system, so if the capacity is there that's the slickest way to go from a packaging view, plus the radiator coolant will preheat the oil first, which is great, then cool it as temps increase.

You're in Texas, you can run say 15% antifreeze for anti-corrosion protection, the rest distilled water (grocery store $1/gal), and this will increase the heat capacity of your cooling system. Water is much beter at heat transfer than anti-freeze. In race cars, we run the distilled water and Red Line Water Wetter, nothing else. We're also popping the engines frequently, too. But if I lived South, I'd only run enough anti-freeze for minimal freeze protection and anti-corrosion.

I will be putting Mobil 1 15w-50 in later this week. Right now there's Penzoil 20w-50.

My temp never gets above 210 on the street.

That's pretty high, but you are not risking damage. For a synthetic oil, IMO you can do 240oF without problems. Given a choice and the ability to do something about it, I'd add a cooler, either oil-to-air or a slick oil-to-water (Aeroquip) heat exchanger. You'd really like 210oF on the oil. If your water temps were reasonable, 195oF or less, you may be able to plumb in the oil-to-water without adding thermal stress to the water cooling system.

260oF is not something a driver wants to see. Pay for the best synthetic you can get.

I had to go pick up a part for my RX7 from a fellow racer. He just happened to be testing at MSR today so invited me as a guest. I did two 30 minute sessions in the 328 and had another great time. The most fun I've had in this car have been on the track. This was my 4th day, hopefully I'll do it even more than that. It's slow compared to my Spec. RX7 and the Spec. Miatas were flying by, but it's soo much fun. Let it rip down the straights and be very gentle in the turns. 280 tread rating street tires with stock brakes make for interesting changes of direction. However, I think it may be next to impossible to spin that car. It's so well balanced and gives such good feedback that you can confidently get it right on the limits. I would say the tires are the cars only weakness and that has nothing to do with Enzo, my next set will be some better tires. With only 3k miles a year on this car they'll wear from age before I ever wear them from use. Might as well get some good soft tires on there. As usual the car ran better on the way home from the track then it ever runs. It was saying "Thank you Robbie".

On a side note, what's the most you let the oil temp get up to? It was hitting about 235 and it was a half way cool day. I think last time in the summer the oil temp hit 260.

Whew, what a great day.
