Martin,

My 308 GTB Fiberglass also has the Euro ANSA system mounted ca. 1984. I have the OEM USA exhaust system in my garage. Those older ANSA systems sound OK. I've heard that the newer ANSA exhaust tips tend to rust. Mine shows no rust, but the black paint on the muffler body has flaked away in the center where the muffler has its hot spot. This seems to be pretty common with ANSA systems.

Henry is right, Ansa is OEM on tons of Ferraris from the '80s on.

How one judges "quality" is in the eye of the beholder. Obviously, in general, Ansa is high enough quality to continue to be OEM for Ferrari. Their systems are either stainless, coated, and/or utilize other alloys than simple mild steel that one would find on a mid eighties Chevy. Ansa just doesn't use the higher grade stainless that Tubi does to get the shine, and you pay the price when you buy a Tubi (plus hand made). I like the Tubi's (I know Franc here in Michigan), but the Ansa is not too bad. They build to different parameters as an OEM.

If I only new about "cheap" Ansa systems. I purchased a Stebro instead of the original ANSA for my car. The Stainless is thin, thus it is much nosier in the car. We ended up adding some extra sound dampening material to take care of it.

I would get it for my own car and try to offer it for sale. At least if nobody buys youc an install it and have fun with it.

My 308GTB Fiberglass has one and it does not sound all that great to be honest. But that is not stainless and I believe they came a long way since the mid 70s.

Also, if I were in your shoes, I'd go for the most expensive that can be sold fairly easy (whether it be for a F-car or not)

Ron,

The Ansa's were (are?) the factory system on Ferraris previously. I don't know if they still are. I think these sound great. Ansa may have actually made the original system for your car or for cars of your era. Call me for more info.

Probably not as high quality as a Tubi, as we're talking stainless .vs. regular steel. If the price difference is small, I'd do the Tubi. If the difference is large, the Ansa. I've got a Euro Ansa, sounds good, no real complaints. But, hey, a Tubi is a Tubi!!

If you look at the part number's your exhaust fits all 308qv's - 328 an the corresponding Mondial's so if your inclined to sell it, should be a wider audience.
I have one on my 83Mondial an it sounds great.

I bid on and won a silent auction yesterday for a new Ansa exhaust system. I can choose a system for any Ferrari including mine, an 87 Mondial Cab.

The system that fits my car is not stainless steel. The price list they gave me indicated a cost of about $1150 for it. I think if it was stainless I would be inclined to get it.

They offer systems for 360 Modenas, 355's 348's, 328's and many others although not Testarossas or many other 12 cylinder cars.

The price for the 360 was about $2k, the 355 about $1.8k and on down from there.

My question is, should I get the system for the Mondial (I paid almost exactly half) or should I get the more expensive system and try to sell it?

I don't know anything about Ansa systems http://www.ansaautomotive.com/ansasport/listings/ferrari.html but this link takes you to their Ferrari selection.

Are they like Tubi systems? Are they as good? If I got one to sell, which one would you recommend for resale purposes?

I only get the system, not including installation.

Your thoughts would be appreciated. I have to give them an answer pretty soon.
