Before i'd place a lot of stock in what Sydney says, vs. bunches of longer time posters on the chat, i'd wanna know who Sydney works for, and what, if any cars he owns(no pics in profile).

Not to wanna disbelieve anyone who posts positive comments, but on an open/public chat board, what's to keep someone from E4L from signing up and doin' a pump & dump?

Old Ron Reagan line comes to mind here, 'Trust, but verify'...

I will concede that the price was better than any other '90 TR that I could find, and I love the car. Just wish they took care of the little things they promised - and did not deliver my car with a dead battery...

I am new to Ferrari chat and joined just so i could post this.

Here's my personal experience with Exotic Cars Wholesale:

In the past 3 years i have bought 3 cars from Exotic Cars Wholesale. Two were while they were acting as brokers and one was recently after they opened their showroom. The cars were, in order, a 2000 CL500, a 1998 Diablo roadtser, and a 2001 360 F1 coupe.

All the cars were exaclty as discribed and the people at the dealership delivered everything they promised. I found them to be pleasent, helpful and honest. Plus on all 3 cars, their prices were better than I could find anywhere in the country.

I will say I did have one car from them fall through, but they refunded my deposit immediatly with no problem.

I'm sure all businesses have a few unhappy customers (I know mine does), including car dealerships, but I'm here to say FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, that this business has happy customers too.

The reason I decided to join Ferrari chat and post this is that I was just in their showroom today (on the way back from Cavillino). They have 30 or 40 cars in stock and every one of them i looked at was first quality. Then I read your posts saying that they have bad cars, or even no cars. those of you who said that, have you ever even been there?

If you have had personal bad experiences with them , you have every right to bash them, but those of you who don't, go visit their showroom and then talk to me.

I have recommended Exotic Cars Wholesale to many friends and will continue to do so.

Lucky break for you Scott, that you didn't loose a deposit and you recieved both a car and a title. Unfortunately, the buying experience shouldn't have been what they made it. The consensus is to stay away from them. I'm sure the first car they told you about was BS'd along.

For anyone looking for a car, I think if you're looking at a car that is outside your immediate geographic radius, post it here and someone living near the prospective car on this board will, i'm sure, go and eyeball it first. I have done this for a few people and have saved them a lot of time & money to look at dissapointments. I have also had several people save me some time and money for dissapointments.

I just had a '90 TR (see profile) delivered from Exotic4Less last Wednesday. This was my experience:

I called them off a Dupont Registry ad I found on the internet. They promptly told the car I called on was sold, but they had another similar car. They emailed me pictures and told me I had to wire them a "refundable" deposit to hold the car and get an inspection. I wired them a substantial deposit. Probably a mistake, but I was searching for months for a TR and was itching to pull the trigger.

After wiring the deposit, I found out that they did not own the car, just acting as a broker. They said they were sending the car to an independent mechanic for an inspection, which I would be paying for. After the supposed inspection, they said they found a major oil leak and didn't want to sell me the car because of it; however, they had another car which just arrived at the dealership. They never asked for payment on the inspection - so either there wasn't one or they didn't feel I owed them - you be the judge.

About this time I started searching the Ferrarichat threads regarding Exotics4Less. Needless to say there weren't very many positive posts and I became pretty nervous. I figured I had 2 choices: lose my substantial "refundable" deposit or buy a car.

The second TR was inpected at Shelton Ferrari and had only minor items noted. I spoke to the service technician personally and he told me that the car was better than most of the TR's he inspects. In addition, I received a copy of the previous major service.

I was still nervous about wiring the balance when I didn't know if they held title, so I told them I was going to finance the car. I figured if a bank is going to put up most of the money, they will make sure I get the title. The finance company tried to screw me and delayed the deal another week. However, they told me the car looked awesome. At that point I needed some resolution. I called Exotic4Less that I needed some comfort level in order to wire them that much money. They faxed me the title and I wired the money.

The car arrived 5 days later - it was as they described. I've since taken it to a local independent mechanic. He was impressed with its condition.

Negatives: They failed to install a chassis bolt that was missing - probably not replaced at the last major. Not a big deal, my local mechanic did it for free, but they explicitly said they took care of it. The car arrived with a dead battery. The truck driver said that they had to jump start the car to get it on the truck - they obviously knew they were selling a car with a dead battery. Books/manuals didn't arrive with the car. I had to make some calls to get them to send the items.

After thinking I was going to lose my deposit and having such low expectations, I'm not that concerned with the minor items. I'm thrilled with the car so far - and I received the title.

Would I use them again? Considering I feel they were not 100% straight with me (missing bolt, dead battery, etc.), I'd probably think twice.

I hope this helps. Sorry for the novel.

I love the car...can't say it enough.

guys,

i think a euro car w/ a quality epa/dot conversion is a great value proposition. fritz @ amerispec has done nice work over the years...his shop is like an operating room sanitary!! as far as seasonal pricing...there are so many nearly new 360's coupe and spyders alike, for sale, you should know that you will be negotiating price from a strong position! a brand new car may hower be different...others
please make comment.

Nobody is paying nothing for anything right now.

(whow what a sentence)

I think the 360 Spider will get to $200K shortly. They are at $ 230K right now sold at F-dealers and all of them have one or more...

Martin:

The problem with waiting is the spring! you know that the prices will go higher when spring rolls around specially for the spiders. I still don't believe there are people out there paying $250K for spiders.

Clax,
your best bet is to wait another 2-4 months until the high market has settled as well. When the current dealers realize that you can not get $250K for a Spider anymore you are set to buy at a reasonable price.

just my 2c.

Eli,

Here's what I am looking for:

01-03 360 F1 Spider
Euro or US Car
Colors: Grigio Alloy, Silver or Titanium
Interior: Black
Xenon Lamps
No Shields
No Rear Challenge Grill

Obviously, the Euro car will be far less money. If the car is a Euro, I am only interested in cars that are already DOT/EPA complete, so I don't have to worry about anything. Just test drive, inspect, and pay the money.

The problem is that although the market is getting softer, there are still some people out there asking ridiculous premiums for their cars. I am only willing to buy at a premium that I feel is reasonable.

Yes, but "bait and switch" (as I understand it) is when you get a customer interested in an item, then put it down in the hopes of selling them another, more expensive, item, or trying to sell the same item with "accessories," and if the Customer insists on the original item, telling them that it is no longer available.

That's how its happened to me, anyway. :-)

Ohhhhhh.......Don't get "Modman" started on them!!! There are also several others here who will also warn you about them.

They are the same as Exotic Cars Wholesale, Exotics4less is just their on-line name.

They usually don't own the cars they are selling. In fact, they usually haven't even seen the cars they are selling. They broker them.

They will tell you about a car, but you have to give a deposit before they will let you speak with the owner, get the VIN to do a carfax or look at the car. Obviously, what they tell you is second-hand puffery. However, despite thier claims that the deposit is fully refundable, from the comments on this board, you will probably never see it again!!

Slimy business........

I recently have come in contact with a person at a brokerage called Exotics4Less. I am not very familiar with them. There are a few cars that they have that seem interesting (good price). However, last night a friend of mine mentioned to be careful with these guys because they often deal cars that were previously damaged. Is this true? If you have any other info on these guys, please let me know. Thanks.
