Tubi makes headers for the F50? I would have guessed that the factory would have them tuned as best as they could have been tuned anyway, not to mention that they probably wouldnt make a profit off of it as their are only 349 F50's and only a fraction of cars would have then changed. |

An F50 like with the similar setup is always in Palm Beach. I drove by it several times in two weeks over the Holidays. Drowned out my TR everytime. Its so loud that when I was in a store on Worth Avenue and it went by, the owner said, "Darn Mike I am glad yours is not that loud." Its is f-ing scary how loud that is. |

Did anyone get a chance to hear a red F50 with the full Tubi treatment (headers thru the tips)? . I am told it was the nearest thing to an F1 car. |

Just returned from Cavallino and it was so damn cold at Moroso on Friday. Saturday at the Breakers the weather was not as cold but overcast with drizzle here and there. WE HAD 30 PEOPLE AT THE LUNCH and Martin will post photo's. Here's a couple that I quickly formatted for FC. First one is Martin Handcuffed to a Palm Beach Sheriffs car, actually the car is running and we all took turns getting our hands warm off the exhaust headers in the fenderwell. And the second is the ENZO which is in dire need of a Tubi (sound was less than impressive for what it is).

Okay, I did not get all serial numbers. The P4 was sold is my understanding. $7 M I was told. Sounds high to me but I am no expert in classics. Heck I can not see the difference between a P4 and a P3 when I see them. Some nice interesting cars out there. A 288GTO in mint condition. I wrote down that serial. Also a 166 that had an interesting history. Some guy converted the car in the 50s with a new body to run the MM. He crashed and the car was re-bodied with the original 166 body. The car traded hands several times and then a few years ago some kids walk into a Hot Rod shop and trade a crumpled Ferrari body for some parts. Yep, it was the ody from the 166. Still badly mengled. Race # 5E. They had the car and the 166MM body reunited and shown at the track. Hope to see more today. That serial was (out of memory) 0342MM They also had a 308 in full competition gear. GULF OIL sponsorship on the car. The serial umber plate was empty. Anybody know the serial on that? The driver did not know it either. Pictures follow tomorrow.

William Popoparlado. Enjoy yourself but be carefull on those cold tires. I remember one race they had to call off because it was so cold the slicks were cracking! Best Jim |

Yeah, cold air is a double edged sword. In theory the car should develop more power as the colder air acts like mother nature's own turbo boost. But the down side is that power is not used because of the conditions you sited: cold tires, less grip etc, less effective braking, Low oil temps, denser air for the car to move through so more drag etc. On a more straight track like Indy it should be great at 50 degrees after about 20-30 warm up laps. It should warm up for you next weekend. |

Maybe that P4 was the Papadopoulus car. It was fridgid cold today. I went out once, took me 4 laps to get my oil temp off the peg, then on the front kink where I usually go flat out, I had the pedal on the floor & steered the car into the kink but the tires were so cold the car kept going straight. After that I just walked around freezing my butt all day. No sense in risking myself or the car when I'm running Moroso again next weekend. A lot of guys ran, I just didnt want to change my driving style & pussyfoot the car around the track. Jeff Ippoliti had his 355 going well, I think everybody was slow cus it was so cold Martin said he would report the serial #s |

Ha! I guess I need to go back to school! I think I just meant that it was famous or well-known but with a tiny bit of a negative spin on it. Not at all as bad as "disgraceful." Ooops! |

Jim, I said "infamous," not "notorious." I have nothing against recreations like 0900 as long as they are referred to by their owners as recreations and not passed off as the real deal. The fact that Piper used a non-existant s/n on the car and lists it in most vintage events as a recreation is, in my opnion, commendable. More power to him. |

Wayne That's one that David never owned so far as I know. It's, as you probably know the one Dean Martin Jr. used to drive on Sunset in the good old days. As far as I know the car is back with Lawrence and I have been told it is for sale. I raced against 0850 at Goodwood when Paul owned it in my MK-IV. One minor point. I think infamous is a bit strong. If Ferrari felt that way I doubt they would proudly (see their official site) allow him to race 0900 in the Historic Challenge. David is David but he is a piece of Ferrari's History and IMHO a good piece at that. 0900 is what it is but it is very beautiful, even in Modena Green as Ford came to call it (David used a Ford truck paint) and unlike many cars on the concors fields it does still run in real anger. Best Jim |

Yeah, but 0850 was never green and was never owned or raced by Piper, was it? By the way, I know that Stroll was trying to sell 0850 though Duncan Hamilton & Co a while back. I'm assuming it never changed hands? |

Wayne I suspect it's Paul's car 0850 now owned by Lawrence Stroll. As far as I know 0900 is still racing away in the Historic Challenge.

ok, I'll try to remember to record the chassis #s. The 512M is the Penske/Sunoco car while the P4 used to belong to David Piper. It was green then, Ugh!!!! Yellow now, at leats its a small improvement Pete lovely has 1 of the 57 TR. I asked him if the pontoons helped him float in the rain |
