Enzo Ferrari may not have sold to Ford, but he later sold the company outright anyway. Many purists say thats where Ferrari died. There is only 1, maybe two, Italian companies left that are still owned by the original founder.

This is sad news.

Agnelli will always be part of the Worlds Fabric of Automotive History.

Ferrari community and Italy will never forget him.
He was a great businnessman , without him today Ferrari would be in so different condition...
As Anthony mentioned he was the one who saved Ferrari from Ford.

Ansgar, I know you've already posted this news but I thought it deserved it's own thread:

Gianni Agnelli has died. He was a great friend and mentor of Enzo. If it hadn't been for Agnelli then Ferrari would now be part-owned by Ford rather than Ferrari.

Gianni was also the uncle of Ludovico Scarfiotti the Ferrari driver who famously led Mike Parkes in a Ferrari 1-2 at the 1966 Italian Grand Prix.
