The 355 Spider is the most beautiful example of automotive design & styling I have ever witnessed. 355 + Top Down = Pure head turning, engine howling, driving exhilaration that quickens my pulse each and every time. Go with whatever offers you the greatest enjoyment and place less emphasis on the intangibles. |

You know your 360 is a virtual twin of mine. There is no way I would take that deal. Although the 355 Fiorano Spider is a fantastic car, I think the handling/challenge improvements are a bit lost on it, since it is after all a Spider which is not exactly the best for the track. Keep your 360... I still want to hear your Tubi. Tony |

ACW, Wish I had your problems! Nevertheless I also think you should keep your 360! Its by far the better and superior car. By the way: Real Ferrari tifosi (the conservative ones!) would never buy a Spider. Better handling and structural advantages makes the Berlinettas the better track cars. Just a thought. Hope no Spider owners feel offended Con saluti cordialissimi, Jens Haller |

Thanks for all the answers. I think I'm going to pass although a spider would be nice. Maybe I should get a 360 Spider, but while I love these cars, I think they are still way overvalued above 200K. In California, cost of changing car including license and taxes is about 11.5% Dealers offered me 150K for my 360, hence an even swap including taxes make the 99 355 Fiorano cost $134,600.00 (car + $15.4K) I think I'll wait a little more for 360 spider price to go down... You should be getting at least $10-20K back in your pocket for that trade. Depending on the state in which you live, the trade in value of your 360 would along wipe out the taxes, so that should not be "included". Sounds like a dealer is trying to pull one over on you and get out of a 355 he is heavy in, and acquire a 360 for less than market.... My $0.02 from the dealer side....

ACW- don't do it! the 360 is a superior car to the 355, real worlk performance, magazine racing, and spec sheet comparisons included, and b/c it is a newer car will hold onto it's value; however, as other have commented, no one should ever purchase a ferrari as an investment. the fiorano package did not endow the 355 w/ any thing spectacular or rare, per se; that is, it's a regular 355 spyder, with a few tweaks (same engine, same chassis, etc.), namely: ------------------------------------------------ -Challenge Rack (anyone have the actual ratios? turns lock to lock?) -Drilled Brake Discs -Red Racing Calipers -Racing Brake Kit (not sure what this is meant to mean?) -Front and Rear Stiffer rate Coil Springs -Challenge F and R Roll Bars -Stock ECU (as in same timing fuel curves), but specific to Fiorano Setup (no real clarity on this either) -Scuderia Shields -Dedication Plate -Challenge Grill -Sterring wheel covered in suede -F1 Shift Paddles in Carbon trim -Full interior appts. in Carbon Fiber Trim -------------------------------------------------- also, in a previous discussion regarding the 355 fioranos, a fiorano owner, commented that the car doesnt differ from a regular 355 enought to command any appreciation over time as a collectible, and in general, the fiorano limited run was a 'dash for the cash' by ferrari to liquidate the remaining 355's at the introduction of the 360. for the rest of the discussion, see this thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/21/173614.html IMHO, the 360 is a better car, all around, and i would not trade. regards.

There aren't many Fioranos around for sale but the few I see are in the 130's. I don't know what 2000 360 coupes are looking like but I would guess not a whole lot more. I guess it all about what you like, if your ready for a change and its not all about the money, go for it. What color combos?? |

The 360 would be the superior car here, but there was only 100 355 Fioranos made.. It should keep it's value better than any other 355 but I'm not sure if it will sell for more than the 360 in the future.. Good luck with your decision and go with what you want, not always for value.. My 2 cents

The 360 is a superior car, but the 355 Spider is sooo much fun with the roof down and sounds better, although a tubi on 360 can fix that. The roof isn't actually a MAJOR pain in the ass, but it can give your patience a run for its money. But as said before, get what you will enjoy. I think you should be getting some cash your way out of the deal. The 355 Spider fiorano will probably not be worth much more than a standard spider anyway. I take it the 355 is a 1999 car? You are losing on a straight swap. They'll definitely offer your car up for more than the 355. |

does not matter what the future holds - right now he could prob sell the 360 outright and buy the 355 spider and be left with some change - for that reason only not worth a staight up swap |

I don't know, pretty soon you will have just another 360 coupe that will probably be worth less than the Fiorano eventually and you will gain a top down limited run F1 spider. Although I agree the 360 has a more avanced engine, If you track it thats one thing, if you take it out on nice sunny day driving... Well you can't beat the spider!!Of coarse I am a little jaded in my thinking! |

tom is right, NO WAY is it an even trade, don't even consider that. i too have been tempted to trade my 360 for a 355 spider. i really love the looks and the sound of the 355. but having already had a 355B i can tell you that the 360 is far superior car in every way, except sound. i guess it just comes down to having a great looking spider or keeping the 360. what a great choice to make. by the way the 355 tops are apparently a real pain to operate |

The Modena is a much better car. It's lighter, faster & has better engine than the 355. Why get a lesser car? You will not gain anything unless, of course, you prefer the 355 body design.

The 355 is a much better looking car than the 360 IMHO. I agree with Whart, own the car you like and want to drive, not one you anticipate will hold value better. |

i would buy what you want to drive and forget about which one is the better long term investment. I am of the impression that the paddle shifter in the 360 is smoother than the one in the 355, but suggest others, who actually know, chime in. I also don't know if there were running changes to the shifter in 355. |

staight up - no way - from my limited knowledge the fiorano claims a slight prem over other 355's but not much. what year is the 360. you should be getting cash in the deal - future depreciation is anyones guess |

I have the opportunity to exchange my 360 Modena (not spider) for a 355 Spider Fiorano. The deal is even including taxes (ca). The Fiorano has 4000 miles. My 360 has 5200 miles. What do you guys think about that deal? I'm tempted by this because I would like a spider and because I believe that the 355 Spider Fiorano is going to depreciate less than the 360 Modena in the next few years. On another note, I think I read somewhere that the Fiorano has a 360 like F1 transmission that blips the throttle. Is this correct? As usual, thanks for any opinion on either the deal, or any difference between both cars. ACW |
