Of the 6 cars I have bought, I did buy only one (my current car actually) sight unseen. However, if time permits, I always fly to the car. No matter what anyone else says, there is still nothing like seeing it yourself. Plus, on older cars, every one feels, drives differently. In either event, PPI's are money well spent. BTW, the car I bought sight unseen is just fine.

Definitely ask someone here to do an eyeball test first. Then have a PPI by a mechanic of YOUR choice. Finally, perhaps you can fly there.

yes, I have done this as have others - get a ppi and buy sight unseen - seems crazy but it works, what you can also do it ask someone on the board to do a pre pre purchase review (overall cosmetics and other non tech items - I have done this for others and obviously no charge. I know others have done this as well

Just say where the car is and somebody on here will know a mechanic in the area to do the PPI (private personal instection). Cost is usually somewhere around $300. And yes many have bought site unseen based on a trusted opinion if you know what you are looking for. Others would never hear of such and idea.

Anyone have experience buying an older (1980's) Ferrari from out of state, using one of those companies that will "inspect" the car for several hundred of dollars?
Anyone bought one sight unseen based on the inspection report?
I have the itch (and finally the money) to buy my first Ferrari, and wonder how much travel will it entail... if any
