I was a poor Babo too. Many loans plus I ran a new/used CD business out of Trim on Saturday nights and then I also worked in the computer center my last two years. Oh, and my car? A 1989 Toyota Tercel. It was Ferrari red though!

I try to make it back every other year for homecoming. We have an alumni swim meet that ends up to be more drinking than swimming.

If you or your kids are looking for a top notch B school, you should look at Babson. They've been ranked one of the top undergrad business schools by several publications, like this year getting a top 30 from U.S. News and World Reports.

Rob, hard to believe, but I don't know those individuals. I do however, remember alot of BMWs being driven in 1st gear up the main road past Horn...always pissed me off that they never shifted. I had a Ford Fairmont...couldn't afford anything more with tuition >$25k in early '90s. I was one of the "poor" Babo students that cherished my education and worked hard for what I know have. When was the last time you've been back to Babson? remember Pine Matress school...ah the good 'ol days. I highly recommend Babson to anyone interested in business/entrepreneurial studies.

Wow, that makes at least 3 Babo alumni. I know there has to be more. Coming from Kansas I had only seen a few Ferraris growing up, but at least 3 students had Ferraris on campus. Although they would store them off campus, you would see them now and then in the Spring.

Being on the swim team, about the only people I would know from around your class would be like Mike Hobbs and DJ Fairbanks.

We no need no stinkin schools. I was watching the spanish channel today, all the hot girls, boys forget collge, I'm moving south of the border (I even speak spanish, and I thought all those classes would never come to use). How do you say "I love you for you, not your body." in spanish. I gotta get ready. Te amo para ti, no para tu cuerpo or something like that.

Martin,
I got my bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and truth be told the only relevent knowledge I left with (as far as what I was looking for) could have been obtained from Money magazine. Too many theories, graphs, pie charts, etc. Tell me how to MAKE MONEY, which of course they don't teach you. I am only speaking about a business program... sciences, medical, dental, and vocational programs are a completely different animal. Just MHO. Jerry

Magoo;
I agree. After Highschool/College (same in germany) most of my friend went to University for their degrees. I was never good in school and never liked to learn and study. Either I picked it up during class or I flunked the tests. So University was not for me to begin with.
Started my own buiness and while everybody was living od Chips in University I was building a successful business. My frineds were driving $1,000 cars and I was cruisn in Ferraris and my Z-1 BMW.

I guess it worked out for me, but this forum looks more like the other way is the more "secure way" to owning a Ferrari. Guys encourage your kids to go to school!

Martin it does seem that the school assumption is correct, which is why I am off in a month to get some HIGHER education. I got my 308 before I graduated high school, that might be attributed somewhat to my father though, but neither one of my parents finished college either, go figure. My High School is actually #1 in NJ, and I came out of it with an A+ average, once again I'm perplexed how things like this can happen. High school was fun though. Someone said it here before quoting a movie. "My favorite thing about High School girls is that even though I'm getting older, they stay the same age." Classy.

This is an interesting discussion. From the posts here one can draw the conclusion that having a degree and a minimum of HS and BS will make it easier in life to own a Ferrari! So school does pay off! Very interesting.

David, glad to see another Beaver on the board. Although I drove my little Toyota Tercel around campus, Babson was actually famous for how many students had Ferraris. At one time I knew 3 students that actually drove them on campus now and then. Back in 1995 there were a couple 348's and a TR. No Ferrari for me, I was making $5 an hour working in the computer center.

My frosh year more students accepted than they expected so they had 3 people in 2 person rooms and started using Publishers and I forgot the name of the dorm, but they called it the mortuary. The dorm was a hospital back in the early century and there were about 6 rooms that were just large enough to fit a body in and had old ceiling vents. How would you like to sleep there?

Oh my gosh, Rob Lay went to Camp Babo. I too am a Babson graduate. Former resident of Publishers Hall. I don't even think that's a dorm any more. I think it was condemned after my illustrious stay there. I also lived in McCollogh(sp?) Hall before I moved off campus.

Here's an edited version of some of the schools that I went to.

Copthorne Village School Crawley, Sussex, England
Virginia Water Junior School Surry, England
Liberty Guinn (?) Atlanta, GA
Pace Academy Atlanta, GA
East Hills Jr. High Bloomfield Hills MI
Cranbrook School Bloomfield Hills MI
Lahser High Bloomfield Hills MI
Weston High Weston CT
Loomis Chafee Hartford CT
Babson College Wellesley, MA

Those are the ones I remember. I think at one point I was averaging one school every two years. I'm done now.

I'm betting that there are at least two other people on this site that went to one of these schools.

David (still not too smart after all that education)
