All 308s have the same zippered cover as the 328s have. They are the exact same.

?? Is the zippered cover on the 328 different from the cover on the 308? Is it insulated? Can it be retrofit

I had looked at a 308 before I purchased a 1986 328 GTS last May, I must say that the zippered cover on the 328 makes a big difference in keeping the contents clean and a bit cooler. Who goes shopping with a 328 anyway. Traveling? Jeans, two shirts and a few items to keep one presentable. All I ever needed when traveling in the 328 is the car, the open road and my beautiful wife next to me.

I went shopping with my previous 308. That trunk hold a lot. Gym bags are great but yes, it gets kind of hot. Had pizza dough in ther eone day and when I came home the pizza was ready!

Congratulations and welcome to the virus club.

You'll love the 328. I also added one to my collection this year and, with the exception of legroom (I'm 5' 16"), love the car. It's a whole different world from the rest of the collection. Regarding the amount of space, plan on traveling light! maybe the equivelent of an overnight bag. After driving it though, you won't care!
Just a warning- but I was already pulled over once by the local constabulary just because they wanted to see the car. It is definately high profile and will be the first car picked out by radar in a pack on the interstate.
Prepare to smile a lot.

Hey Jim! I just did the same thing! I bought a 84 308 QV from New York and I live in Atlanta! What a great trip. I rented a car with my friend Jeff and we drove up to get the 308. I told him to bring only the bare essentials due to the lack of luggage room. We actually got two large gym bags, a tool box, 2 pairs of shoes and a book bag in the trunk. No kidding, its deeper than you think. So we drove the car 1000 miles without a single problem. Remember what Herbert said, if you put anything perishable in the trunk it will ruin itself, and any clothing around the food. It gets hot in there. I also did not put any aerosol cans (like deodorant and shaving cream) in the trunk. It was the most fun I ever had in a car. Make sure the mechanic knows you are driving it 1500 miles, and let him really go over the car. BE sure to bring a small tool box, oil, coolant, spare spark plug extenders and belts. Way to go man, you are going to have a great time! Let us know what happens.

Do not plan on taking any Reese Cups in the trunk either.

I've just bought my first Ferrari, an 87 328, and I get to drive it 1500 miles to bring it home! Can someone with a 308/328 tell me how much room I'm going to have behind the engine for storage? A general measurement would be appreciated.
