Thank you all for your information. I'm suffering my annual GOT TO GET A BOXER TODAY- disease. I'll get one sooner or later though. David & Frank both your cars look fantastic. David, your wheels look really good on you Boxer. 225/45, 265/40 That sounds perfect for my next car. If you compare with your 328, where do you find the biggest difference apart from power? Ciao Peter

Peter, I'm recently purchased a set of NOS BBS 512LM wheels for my 365BB. I'm running 17x8" wheels in the front and 17x10" wheels in the rear. 225/45 front, 265/40 (I think) in the rear...No clearance problems...just a bit of nonsense with splined hubs...The car rides and handles unbelieveably better than it did with the 15" tire/wheel combo it had on her before. Check my profile for a picture of the car. Regards, David |

Is you are just looking for better performance, change the Michelin XWX's out. On my 512BB with the original rims, I run Goodyear Eagles: 225/70-15 in the front and 235/70-15 in the rear. These tires are wider and taller than the XWX's. I and a mechanic checked virtually every available tire and these were the only ones we could find that would fit the rims and clear the fenders. They are also much cheaper than the XWX's. As an added plus, with these taller tires, the speedeo dyno-tested dead-on unlike the usual overly optimistic readings. While this may hurt bragging rights, it certainly helps when troopers are around. |

If you want 16's won't TR wheels fit? Seems like they would. or 288 GTO or F40..?? of course BB512 LM wheels should fit...might be pricey though. |

I have watched 365BB's race and blow everything on that day away (mainly 930 Porsches), thus I think the handling thing is relative. Yes the engine is sitting on top of the gearbox, but the centre of gravity is probably still a lot lower than many other cars. Every car has their weakness and these cars have a lot of pluses for racing too, ie. power, weight on the driving rear wheels, etc. They also ran modified versions at Le Mans, so they cannot be that undriveable I say give it a go, and enjoy developing her, after all on other threads owners of 512TRs claim they are okay track cars, and same issue there. I always wondered what that car would be like with modern rubber, since apart from its back/top heaviness, its biggest limitation was the tires. I assumed that fitting low profile rubber involved not just a change in the wheels themselves but in the suspension set up, which made me wary, since the car i had was configured so well, per the factory, into fooling you that it was balanced, and ran soo smooothly over rough tarmac, i was real reluctant to let somebody tamper with it. |

So you plan to track a Boxer ? They are not the best handling car out there and parts are very expensive. Track your 328 and just enjoy your Boxer. |

Knockoffs? OK, didn't know that. The reason is to get more modern tyres. I'm more of a track guy than a concour guy. Is there non-TRX knockoffs to get for the car then? Thanks for the link, I'll check that site. Ciao Peter |

Why would one do that ? the knockoffs look better and without them you will lose a lot of points at a concours. Since it is very unlikely that an owner will race or track a 20+ year old car, leave it original. |

There is a 512BB at Moorespeed right now getting converted from knock-offs to modern wheels. You could ask David Moore about the conversion. http://www.moorespeed.com/ |

Have any changed the TRX wheels and tyres on 365/512 Boxers to standard wheels & tyres? For instance from TRX 215/70-15 & 225/70-15 to 245/50-16 & 265/50-16. And did it work well? Ciao Peter
