What happens if the car is sold for more than is owed? Does the guy get a check for the difference?

An IRS lean supercedes any lean holders posistion (that is what my attorney said) so the title will be issued with a an IRS lean release, any banks lean will be null and void. If the tax lien is $100,000 and the banks is a $100,000 and the car gets to $200,000 everbody wins, otherwise the lien holder is out!

Maybe one of our attorneys on here will tell us if that is correct

I remember looking into it when it first was announced...they don't even guaratee that the car has a clear title...at least that is what i understood...so you bid 300K for it and find out that there is an iou outstanding for another 500K..wow, would that be a disaster...

i thought this was posted already, but i could be wrong... If it was, then they're having trouble getting rid of it... They should've let the person who owned it, keep it... :-)

Looks like a rare LM is being put up for auction by the IRS in Orlando, Fl. on Feb. 12. Check it out at www.treas.gov/auctions/irs/auto1.html
