Thanks for your help Peter. I just found your message and found the compressor. It's behind the right head light on mine. |

On the later 308s it's on the passenger side between the radiator and the spare tire, kind of near the headlight but on the inside of the frame. |

Absolutely! The air here is too impregnated with asbestos so I use factory filtered air from Maranello that was once breathed by Enzo hinself. Nothing is too good for my car. |

Oliver: On top of the air-compressor, there is a little red plastic cap you pop open and pour oil in. On my GT4, the compressor is located behind the left head light, I think its buried underneath the spare tire on GTB/S (?). Ed, I like to do hooliganistic things, bucking the trend, stickin'-it-to-the-man... You still fill your tires with imported, Ferrari-approved air? |

I have 1978 308 and didn't know you had to oil the horns. How do you do it? |

I can be a lot more sarcastic than that but then I get into trouble. I love the lighter side of life. |

Tim, I don't know Edward that well, but I would be willing to bet a good sum that he was being about as sarcastic as he could be. |

I only use the specified AGIP Ferrari oil in my horn. At only $325.00 per ounce I feel it is well worth the investment to keep my car all original and you guys know how I hate to experiment and use any aftermarket stuff on my car. You are all Hooligans if you use anything else. |

My choice of air-tool oil is simple: its designed for air-powered devices, the FIAMM compressor is that. |

Whenever lubing a Fiamm compressor do not use detergent oil. Use a non detergent oil such as household oil or as Peter says air tool oil. |

Here is the j.c.whitney webpage for all their air horns. The Fiamm $22.99 I have also comes with red trumpets. http://www.jcwhitney.com/catsubpic.jhtml?CATID=3126 |

The oil I use for my FIAMM horns is air-tool oil. You can find this at Home Depot or other hardware stores |

I love the sound of the Ferrari horns. I find something to honk at every chance I get! This includes tunnels, neighbors, jerks, whatever. |

Many years ago, I used to install the FIAMM air horns on all my cars. At the time, someone suggested I use WD40 and I did. I am not sure if that is the right lubricant but it seemed to work. |

Yeah they do Tom, I wouldn't know as I never oil it. Peter does though so he would know. As per you asking I feel inspired and will oil the horn before I put all this back together. I'm just gonna use whatever oil is in the squirt can on the shelf in my shop. I don't think it's really all that critical of a choice. |

I believe the compressor is sealed self/pre-lubricated and does not require add. oil. Make sure you exercise it regularly ! Yes, the J.C.Whitney trumpets are blue. |

Here are some pictures of mine. These are the FIAMM horns supplied by Ferrari for a lot more than the $22.99 J.C.Whitney price. I believe the Whitney trumpets are blue (Tino??) while the Ferrari's are red. http://bedrossian.net/Ferrari/Fuchs&Horn.htm

I'm sorry Nick but I don't have any. Installation was done at Premier (FNA recommended body shop in socal) when they repainted my bumper. The two horns can be seen behind the driver's side front grill. Viken, who's on this list had pictures of his install on this forum. Perhaps someone can remember where. |

308s have Fiamm stock, not sure what model though. They sound so different from anything else. |

T, I have the same hornes on my car. They can be soft, with a light tap-tap or "toot-toot" on the button. Or loud as hell when some bozo, with a stiff neck, is about to "customize" your front end by backing into you in the grocery store parking lot. |

Just had a dual trumpet Fiamm installed in my 360. For you guys who don't like the puny sound of regulated horns, this is the one. It is loud (134db) but real Ferrari ! It costs all of $ 22.99 from J.C.Whitney (item 12Uy8359Y). Comes complete as a kit with elec. compressor, horns, relay and hardware. |
