Proventive Maint is the key. Use the car and enjoy it...they like being used and tend to have less problems when they are driven vs being left in the garage. Ensure that you go through many of the wire connections esp on the fuse board for bad connections, and put a bit of elec grease on them esp in the engine compartment. The other is rotors and caps. The rotors are $70 cheep, but the caps are $600 plus...but will last for ever if you replace the rotors before they burn the caps and just lightly clean the caps of carbon. Rebuild the wire sets by pulling new wires through the red covers and save $$$, new sets at over $700. When the engine is out for service do as much as you can. Rebuild the alt even if it seams ok as it is a to do when the motor is in and is only $200 to rebuild. Replace many of the old hoses and such that are hard to get to with the engine out, and replace the fuel filters on a regualr basis. The parts are pricy, but a keeping up on it helps....I love mine.

Im not concerned about the complexity really. I enjoy that sort of stuff. I figured they probably had some very expensive parts that have to be replaced periodically. Im assuming the parts are much more costly than my 308.

i own a 88 tr and i love it..its one of the most powerful and unique lloking ones enzo and pinafarina designed..but its a ferrari and be prepared to send when needed..
my advise is to get yourself a reputable FERRARI mechanic because everything is so complex with the car,,like any other exotic, watch your liquid levels.. the brake fluid, oil, etc, things that you can see exterior wise..make sure you drive the car,(prevent breaking or clogged seals, brake calipers working, etc)and enjoy it....the new the tr, the better chance of obtaining parts..

My understand is that parts are high, but what isn't. I would encourage you to buy one, but a lot of the work is not for the do-it-yourselfer. Because they are so complex, labor can be very high as well.

Im thinking that the next F car I buy will be a TR but I read in a post that they are the most expensive to maintain. Because I can repair the car myself, does this change things alot or are the usual parts required so expensive that Ill be blown out of the water? The cost of a TR seems attractive for the performance, figured one would be my next logical choice for cost reasons.
Thanks, Paul.
