Nice Momo site, but I went through the entire product selection and though they have a LOT of nice knobs to choose from, and found NO neckless spheres to match the Ferrari factory shape.

Justin: I have never seen a Momo spherical neckless knob (like the factory knobs from Ferrari) in the U.S. If that's what you were able to buy in the U.K. please upload a picture... I'm interested.

Well, I use MOMO Corsa and have a gear knob from them.
They are one of the official suppliers to Ferrari.
Momo supply sleeve is adapter for the Ferrari lever and its well cool.

Justin, I believe that the Momo/Corsa knobs are NOT THREADED, they have "necks" and use an allen screw. For most of us, that would not be preferable/acceptable.

Mike, do both, with and without H's... I think you will generate enough interest with both.

Tell me when these babies start rolling off the assembly line!

What do you all think about roman numerals instead of numbers?

Guys, for the 5-speed decal to go under the resin, do you prefer the japanese example that has the "H" between the numbers, or would you like it better to have just the numbers, like on the factory black plastic knob?

Of course, for our voodoo aluminum knobs, we had the "H" put in , but I think I personally would prefer just the numbers, to show off more of the underlying fiber weave material. I welcome your opinions.

Yoshi, that's about twice what we expect our U.S.-made carbon fiber and carbon kevlar knobs to sell for, as mentioned at the beginning of this thread.

"is never worth more than $100 even if it has a Ferrari logo on it"

It's always worth 5x that if it has a Ferrari logo on it. At least, Modena thinks so.

The knob that Chris and Nika are talking about first showed up on the F50. It was then carried over to F355 Fiorano's, that where sticks, and 550 Fiornaos, and most recently, the 550 Barchetta.
The FNA retail price is $641.32.
And like Chris stated, it has a silver cavallino inset on the top/center.

Manufacturing cost is less than $20 for these carbon balls and retails for $45 and up as I have seen. $700? for a shift knob? unless it's platinum with diamonds is never worth more than $100 even if it has a Ferrari logo on it. It is easy to laminate over a decal to customize a factory look but not legal to sell though without approval agreement.

I did not pay for the knob in my F40, but I was told it was $700.00. a bit pricey.

well - the price was included in the service - enough to make me cry!

When the car is out of hibernation - I will gladly send you a pix. $100 - fair price......I paid quite a bit more to have the interior of my SUV changed from fake wood to carbon fiber

Nika, how much was the 550 knob at dealer price?

We expect these will sell for under $100.00 but of course they don't have the "horse"

I'd love to see a nice picture of the 550 knob.

Thanks

Chris - I have the same one in the 308....I did keep the original wood one for when (if I EVER) sell the car.

Mine came from the dealer.....from a 550...and for the price I should be wearing the darn thing as a necklace!

As many of you know, I'm the "instigator" of the Voodoo aluminum shift knob for Ferraris (TeamVoodoo.com). That actually started for me as a carbon fiber knob project, but getting carbon fiber to properly wrap a sphere without wrinkles hasn't been easy. But we've finally had success!

Solid carbon fiber with just a threaded insert didn't have the nice hefty feel in your hand that a solid aluminum shift knob does, so we used an undersized Voodoo knob as a "core", which gives it the weight to make it feel "right". And when wrapped in CF, it's back up to the standard knob size used in 355's and 360's. You can see the resultant prototype below. I'll have "in car" photos in a couple of days.

Upload

I don't know anyone else who is producing CF neckless spherical threaded shift knobs on a production basis, unless you want to buy a replacement F50 knob at your local Ferrari dealer. Evosport used to do one in Corvette threading, but they've either discontinued it or gone out of business. These knobs will probably be offerred through TeamVoodoo if there's enough interest. I'd appreciate some feedback!

We expect to be able to do the same thing in carbon kevlar, which you may know produces a striated pattern different than carbon fiber, and also potentially adds some color (the kevlar can be red, yellow, blue, etc, striated against the black). The photo below shows an example of CK in yellow (someone else's one-off). We'll likely do a prototype, but I don't know if we'll go into production on it, as I don't think there's as much of a market.
