Hi,

The website http://www.superchips.co.uk/ gives you quite a lot of information regarding chip tuning cars. They claim +20 bhp for a 348, and £330 + VAT, probably with a low resistance air filter applied.

regards

Sam, I bought the chips from Autosport in Mineola, NY. Don't contact them because they are way too expensive. I believe the chips are manufactured by Autoauthority in Virginia. I paid about $800 for a pair including installation. The car runs much smoother and I highly recommend them. As far as maintenance, they have been no problem. I just did the 15K service on the car and mentioned the chips to the dealer and he said that he hadn't seen any problems with any 348's packing the chips.

I always wonder how a 348 would run with a 6 speed gearbox. Has anyone heard of one? I used to have '88 Porsche Turbo with a 4 speed. The car was somewhat modified. I sold the car to a guy who ended up having a RUF 5 speed installed in the car. I never drove that car with a 5 speed but the guy told me it was the best money he ever spent.

The only other thing I've done was put in a K&N airfilter. I was thinking about removing the cats...but that probably wont be until this winter, if at all. I know Koenig has a TwinTurbo kit for the 348 that gives you something like 500+ hp. Of course it also costs you $30k. You might want to try and get the car a bit lighter....ie CarbonKevlar seats, new wheels. Every pound lost will help out somewhat. Lets us know which way you'll go.

David, thanks for the info. My 348 sounds pretty awesome without a TUBI. I wonder how much better it would sound with one.
Have you done any other mods to the car?

Arman, my 348 has a Tubi. The car sounds absolutely wonderful, but I doubt it really gives you a lot in terms of hp gains. I think plenty of people on the chat forum have replaced existing systems with a Tubi and can probably give us all a better idea.

I love the chips. It basically takes away the dead spot between 3000 & 5000 RPMs. I don't know about any noticeable horsepower increase but the car runs much smoother.

I too have a Spider, and love it. Just a little more power would be nice though. Have you had any problems with the performance chips, and do you realize any noticeable hp increase?

Thanks - from a fellow Spider owner.

I own a '94 348. The car has after market computer chips. Any of your suggestions to improve the power would be appreciated. Also, does anyone own a 348 with Tubi exhaust? I like to know the advantages of Tubi and the cost.
