John, I live in the UK and only have a single garage for my 348 Spider. The house was built two years ago, a standard single garage. I have to push the car in and out of the garage. It will just go in with the mirrors out but I always close them in.

That's a good point John I forgot about the folding mirrors. They actually fold inside of the door to door measurment. so I guess you need less than I thought somewhere around 86" or so. |

Charles, Thanks for the information, this is precisely what I needed to know. Once through the garage door I have about 96" but due to an internal extension in the house the previous owner took away some of the internal garage space at the rear. So its looks like my hunt is still on although as my hunt is for a LHD car in the UK. I will have to exit from the right calling for a degree of acrobatics Do 348 mirrors fold flat against the car like others do ? |

John, just used a level and tape measure and came up with the following: Just in front of doors side to side is 71 1/4". Mirror to mirror is 76 3/4". The real problem is going to be getting in and out of the car. The doors are long and require quite a bit of opening to get in and out. I also have a narrow garage and I have to roll down the drivers window to get in and out comfortably. I used a level and made a mark on the floor that represents the back edge of the door with the door shut and with the door opened just enough to squeeze into the car with the window down. It measured 14 1/2". I guess if you add that to the mirror to mirror measurment you would need a minimum of 91 1/4" to get in and out of the car. Of course all of this is just a guess but probably a good approximation. |

I am in the process of research for a 348 which I plan to get in the next few months. Without going into the reasons why my garage is narrower at the back than at the front can anyone advise how wide a 348 gets from say the front of the car to the start of the passenger doors. I know a 348 is quoted at 74" wide, but what is this distance, is it the rear, or the width including mirrors ??. Where pecisely is this measurement made as I only have 77" to get the front in. Thanks John (UK) |
