I had a personal tour in January, 2002 and it was quite enlightening. I spent quite a bit of time with their carbon fiber guy who explained the difference between real cf and the stuff they make briefcases, etc. out of. Owning a Panoz road car would be like owning a Mustang that you paid $80-$100k for. |

I agree Frank! It was an incredible chance to see them building IRL cars and ALMs cars, in fact we were able to pick up a carbon fiber tub and chassis of an IRL car, and you would really be surprised at the lightness. It was extra cool seeing the 550 race motor! |

Thanks to John Delvac the tour of the Panoz road car and race car factory was GREAT. They had a 550 Maranello race engine there that they were tuning for the ALMS Ferrari race team. I was surprised to discover that Panoz builds not only road cars and ALMS race cars, but also builds cars for many of the IRL teams. There were several IRL chassis there in various stages of construction. It is a top notch operation and has me thinking about what it would be like to own a Panoz road car ? |
