What happens on the track, stays on the track ... and the courts should have anything to do with it. Thus if you trash your car on the race track, due to your fault or some other competitors then tough luck. If you cannot live with that do not take your car on the track when others are driving also!. Some car clubs run sprints for this situation, ie. only 2 cars on the track at the same time, not racing and are started so they are on the opposite side/part of the track at any one time ... thus you are only competing against the clock, and yourself. Please don't ruin the sport by making it complicated ... after all nobody would race their cars if they had to worry about the cost of damaging somebody elses car ... thus motorracing would be killed completely. I have raced for around 9 years and had very few (infact only 1) incident where I hit somebody elses car ... but I have dodged many. Thus in most cases you can get yourself out of the accident situation, or you get to know which drivers you can compete hard with, and which ones to keep a safe buffer from. Keep it as a sport!!! Doody: Ever read the release you sign when you enter one of these events? Guess what, you have absolutely no recourse, as long as he doesn't do it intentionally. I have a great picture (I'll try to post it tomorrow) of an Indy car basically flying over another car (I had the misfortunate to represent one of the drivers, the picture is signed by one of the guilty parties). hey - i actually have a question about this. when i've been to the track i've always stressed about trashing my car - pushing it too hard; hitting the wall; etc. etc. truth be told, i (stupidly) never really was too worried about the other drivers. in fact, i don't know that i've ever seen two cars touch at track events - though i've seen folks hit the wall, etc. so what is the general expected behavior in a situation like this? especially if one guy just clearly loses control 'cuz he was pushing it too hard and causes $10K or $20K (or maybe more in this case) of damage to someone else's car? doody. |

It looks like the guy in the red 360 was going too fast and had to blow right through the apex of the previous turn and happened to collide with the other guy as he was exiting the following turn. |
