Jay, My car has the same thing. I do believe the holes are different for the ferrari script and the dino 308gt4 script, since in my case, the fitment of the ferrari badge is not perfect. It looks like they expanded the size of at least one hole to make the ferrari script fit. I tried to take a picture of my nose badge last night, but in the photos, you could not tell from the paint that there was a horizontal badge. But, if you look closely at the paint, you will see where the dino badge used to be. Maybe I'll have to play with the lighting or something... Dom |

Not sure, but I definately want to change it back. I need to find another "Dino 308 GT4" emblem to see the size difference and the location of the holes. I have a feeling it will be off. I've seen some cars that have both the "Ferrari" and the "Dino" script on the trunk lid. I also have a "Cavalino Rampante" beside the rear plate. |

Jay: I've never seen one with the Ferrari script on the back. I don't believe that was in the original emblem change service bulletin, so it must be a 'custom' modification. Do you know if they had to drill different holes? |

My GT4 has been changed over to the "Prancing Horse" The horn button is also a horse instead of the "Dino" Lettering. I want to change it all back to original. It also has the "Ferrari" script on the back instead of the "Dino 308 GT4" Script. |

The first Ferrari that I ever drove was an Ivory over black GT4. Belongs to Jim Perry. |

I attended a car show at Musconie Center in San Francisco about 1978, saw a GT/4 that was cream over black "Boxer" scheme, Ferrari badged, and with white 'Ferrari" lettering along the length of the car on the black 'boxer' portion. I have never seen this color on any other "F" car; it was not white but more of the Porsche 'pastel beige' color. Dino looked great in that color, kind of understated. I also remember after the GTB/GTS came out new gt/4 could be had at local dealer for $2000.00 down and a very low monthly payment....deal was so good I almost bought one! |

Interesting. It would make sense that the dealers were the ones doing the rebadging. After all, aren't service bulletins specifically for dealers? I'm going to have to take a picture of my badge and post it. Dom |

I've got 2 nice 75's in for service, both solid, but obvious repaints, I'll check out the badges and report back. |

This is a continuation of what was going on in the 'Dino keychain' thread. I talked to a former employee of Modern Classic Motors, a Bill Harrah company that was the west coast importer for Ferrari. He said that the cars arrived by boat in S.F., and were trucked to Reno. During his tenure, which ended winter 76/77, he claims that the distributor never removed/changed any Dino badging on the cars. All cars that he saw thru this time period (which, I suppose, would encapsule at least some but maybe not all 1976 model year cars) were badged as 'Dino' - no Ferrari. Also, two tone cars did arrive from Italy. It has been suggested by some that all/most two tone paint was done here. He remembered the rebadging service bulletin that came out, but claimed all such work was done at the respective dealers, not at the distributor. He said that during this mid 70's time frame the cars weren't selling well, and were sitting all over - in Reno and at the dealerships. My car was made in Mar 75, but sold Jul 76. The selling dealer didn't have it in stock, so it must have sat around Reno for a year. He also mentioned that considerable numbers of cars were robbed of parts to repair other cars, with replacement parts sometimes arriving much later. Anyway, not vouching for the total accuracy of the above, just repeating what he told me! |
