Ferrari is putting a percent of itself on the NYSE sometime around summer. Not sure what the volume of shares will be, however. |

The FIAT Group is a huge conglomerate which owns several industries including automobile manufacturing. Ferrari's 90% is owned by the FIAT Group and 10% is owned by Piero Ferrari. The FIAT Group also owns FIAT Auto Holdings which is the parent company of FIAT, Alfa Romeo and Lancia among many other agricultural and commercial vehicles. It is the FIAT Auto Holdings part of the group which is in trouble and a buyout or merger of that group will NOT affect Ferrari or Maserati. http://www.fiatgroup.com/eng/gruppof/ef4gruppof.htm

I got this from my Lamborghini Mailing list about the rumor: This is actually an old rumor, long since squelched. It was actually a pretty good at the time and went something like this. Fiat SpA in financial trouble due to massive loses at the Fiat Auto Division had recently split that company into smaller separate companies. One of those companies was Alfa Romeo. The rumor was that Alfa would be sold to the Ferrari/Maserati Group (another separate company not associated with Fiat Auto) Then part (49%) of the Ferrari/Maserati/Alfa group would be sold to VW AG. VW would also add to that group Lamborghini, Bentley & Bugatti. Thus creating the ultimate sports car company and giving Fiat SpA much needed cash while still maintaining control. Again this is long since dead, and probably started from contacts between Maserati & Audi for their all wheel drive system for use in the Maserati Kubang SUV which was shown at Detroit. The rumors peaked just prior to the debut at Detroit and have faded away ever since. The rumors about what is going to happen with Fiat SpA is an hourly soap opera in Italy and with the passing of Gianni Angelli expect them to get even wilder. Joe

remember, ferrari is not part of the fiat auto group. ferrari is partially owned as an investment by one of the parent (or part-paretn) companies of fiat auto group. doody. |

I read recently that VW (ie Audi etc.) is a possible rescuer of the troubled FIAT group (maybe the latest CAR issue). I would bet that the deal wouldn't include Ferrari. Not sure why VW needs Lamborghini, Bugatti AND Ferrari. Would the 360's engine fit in the back of a Beetle? How about the Passat Ferrari Edition or the Golf Enzo |

I heard a rumor on a Lamborghini mailing list that Audi was trying to by Ferrari. This would be very weird if Audi owned Lamborghini and Ferrari. Anyone here of this? |
