"If you eat at Cavallino (across the road from the factory) when you leave be sure to purchase a bottle of their Ferrari label balsamic vinegar (about 18 euros for a small bottle). It is like sweet syrup and makes salads taste like food of the gods." I second that. Their Balsamic vinegar is among the best I've ever had. Be sure to make reservations, your hotel can do that. |

Hmm, good point, internet cafes. If they have a floppy I could probably upload some pictures along the way. That'd be cool. I'll have my laptop with me, but coming from the US you're always one dongle/adapter/transformer short when dealing with European power and phone jacks. But sipping an espresso while bragging about my trip...hey, there's an idea! |

Anthony There're plenty of internet cafe's everywhere in Italy even in the waiting room before the tour they have a computer (of course set to the ferrari site) you can browse around while waiting. |

Well, 45 days look like an eternity right now... I'd like to keep the folks on this board posted on the progress of my trip. Have to figure out how to use a laptop in Italy. {{8-0 |

I'm adding this place to my "Must see" list when I'm there: http://www.maranellorosso.com/file/inglese/intro2.html This place was mentioned in the most recent Forza mag, in the article: "A few of my favorite things"... |

You can only have three guests accompany you into the factory. My Italian friend from Milan that was with us tried to persuade them otherwise, but they wouldn?t budge. |

Try to stay at the new Planet Hotel, right above the new store. I asked for a room overlooking the factory gate and had a great time looking out of my balcony. Hotel is brand new and inexpensive (100 Euros) |

Hey you guys are going to have a fantastic time there! The whole town is Ferrari with lots of shops dedicated to selling any Ferrari stuff you can think of. I can tell you my credit card took a big hit! I had 6 people including me in my group but I know Ferrari prefers small groups touring at a time. It's just too bad no cameras and persons under 16 years old are allowed in the factory. Don't forget to eat at the Montana restuarant and give a big hug to Mama Rosella! And if you're lucky enough you might get to meet some Ferrari celebs while you're there (I met Rory Byrne and his family while I was there) |

The shop is across the road from the factory gates and is open to everyone. It has automatic doors that make a noise like an F1 car when they open! The Cavallino resturaunt is also across the road from the factory. The Galleria is around the corner and faces onto a large piazza. Opposite the Galleria is a bar called the Pit Stop. I would recommend the cappuccino there as they sprinkle the chocolate on it in the shape of a cavallino! I can't wait to be there again at Easter. |

Hey Nick, isn't the Ferrari Store open to everyone and not just to people who are touring the factory? Or am I mistaking it for the Galleria Ferrari gift shop? |

Yup, set up 'my' private tour for my friends and me. But had to send a copy of the title to FNA for proof. I have never heard of anybody getting a tour who is not an owner. That's not to say, they wouldn't do it, it just seems very rare. |

Yes you can set it up individually but you will be with a small group. Also, you need to be an owner and usually a dealer gets you the appointment. It is worth the time and effort. The new Ferrari store across the street is a real treat if your interest in buying Ferrari goods. |

So you can set up a tour individually? It doesn't have to be a minimum group # or something like that? |

Yes, I've just done this and I'm waiting for the "Package" from FNA. My tour is Sept. 11th 2003 @ 10am. I made the arrangements through my local dealer (Brian Jessel) and since I didn't buy my car from them, they had no "record" of my car in their system. So I had to fax my reg. to FNA... |

I had to fax my title to Cauley as I was told that you must in fact be an owner. |

Tommy: I don't know about being an owner, but I do know that in all the instances I have heard of, the dealer sets up the tour. Maybe ex-owners, or future owners get in also. Art |

Let me make sure I understand this; you have to be a Ferrari owner to get a factory tour? |

ELI is correct, Shelton set it up for me , just make sure you have a copy or some sort of documentation of the request & confirmation when you get to the door. They can be really snooty, imagine that. Its best if you wear a sport jacket & tone down the Ferrari apparel, then they'll think you are a VIP & not a slobbering fan |

I wrote a letter to FNA and gave them some alternate dates. Along with that they needed a xerox of my title (as it is only for real owners). After about a month I got a nice invitation back. My visit will be combined with the Imola GP. |
