Wow, cool story. Clapton & Ferraris go way back. I recall a blurb somewhere that in his beer/cocaine/heroine days, he wrecked his 512BB on a winding driveway of his estate. He was invited to play at the Ferrari-Maserati Festival at Brands Hatch last year, and then again for the Ferrari factory employees at around Christmas time. His appreciation of Italian beauties goes beyond automobiles as well... . |

Rock Star Rolls in Ferrari 24.2.03 The Sunday Times published the following article, written by Rupert Steiner, on 23 February 2003: It's a yellow one, just like what Michael's got here THERE was no trace of the blues last week when Eric Clapton, the rock star, became the first Briton to drive home the new 400,000 Ferrari Enzo. The guitar legend, nicknamed Slowhand, who has a personal fortune of more than 100m, took on a bit of speed when he left the Ferrari factory in Maranello with its latest, most exclusive supercar. A factory worker said: "Most people leave here with their cars on a flatbed truck, but Eric left with a huge grin and insisted on driving it all the way back home." The car is named after Enzo Ferrari, who founded the company. It does 0-60mph in 3.65 seconds and has a top speed of 220mph. It has borrowed much of its design from the Ferrari F1 car and sports its distinctive nose cone. The doors also open upwards rather than outwards. Ferrari is limiting production to 399 and only the most well-connected collectors have been given the opportunity to buy one. For the past 20 years Clapton has built up an impressive collection of both historic and modern cars and only last year bought a brand-new 110,000 Ferrari 360 Spyder. The Enzo comes in just three colours - red, yellow and black - and Clapton went for yellow. In the financial year 1999-2000, Marshbrook, his company, paid him 8.8m and his total disclosed earnings for the past decade stand at 67m. He played 60 gigs last year and reportedly grossed $44m (28m). He has homes in London, Surrey and Antigua, where he lives with his new American wife, Melia McEnery, 25, the mother of his baby daughter.

Here is the link for the Britney Spears Ferrari story. It was a 360, and she blew the gear box. http://www.dotmusic.com/news/August2001/news21509.asp |

Britney Spears didn't own that 360 either. She rented it in LA, and about 15 minutes after picking it up from the dealer she wrecked it on the freeway. Aparently she downshifted too many gears and lost control. |

No I think, Britney, did that on a F360. I doubt she would have gotten an Enzo, with the amount of people on a waiting list for an Enzo! |

Brittney Spears , Already burned out the clutch on her Enzo and they don't have parts readily available yet. She also asked if they could replace it with an automatic transmission, and remove any airbags. ( she's already equipped with her own )

One of his earlier albums had a picture of a Boxer. I believe it was silver or yellow. I wonder if Nick Mason wants an Enzo to go along with his 250GTO? |

Eric Clapton has been a Ferrari enthusiast since way back when. I have seen many pictures of him with various Ferraris over the years. |

Hmmm.. with only 399 of these cars i sometimes try and conjure up an image of who ARE these people... what do they look like?... its hard to bring into focus... they dont exactly walk around with this eerie red glow and a cheshire-cat smile... I would. But... i must say Eric Clapton wasn't on my list. I DID know he was some sort of enthusiast... he made it into the "Friends" section of a Ferrari yearbook a year or two ago... I think, along with Nortel's John Roth... dont get me started on HIM... (: Grant |

In my email this morning: "In today's UK Sunday Times (Business Section) there is a report on Rock Guitarist Eric Clapton taking delivery of his yellow Enzo. The report states that Clapton is the first UK customer to "drive home" his Enzo. This is slightly ambiguous because he reportedly went to Maranello to take delivery and drive his Enzo back to the UK. I don't know if that means he is the first UK customer to take delivery of an Enzo or merely that he is the first to drive one home from Maranello."
