I really recommend avoiding stop leak, I have noticed in vehicles that I have used it in, the heater does not work nearly as well after. Erik |

Neil it sounds like you have a leak past the front waterpump seal which will eventually take out the front bearing. You have 2 choises. If it is a slight leak add some Barrs stopleak or you'll need to replace the pump. If so you can either get rebuild it yourself , have it rebuilt or buy a new one. If you get a new one you may want to update to the later model pump which has a larger front bearing. Steve |

I have a 77 308 GTB (20K miles). Since the car was stored for many years, had major service performed 5K miles ago. Included was water pump rebuild. During winter storage, I run the car periodically. Have noticed on the underside of the water pump (weep hole) residual coolant (2 fingertips worth). Is it "normal" for the water pump on a 308 to perform in this fashion, or is this a tell tale sign the pump is going bad, ready for replacement? Any comments would be appreciated. |
