Wayne, thanks for the update. If *YOU* don't know, then my only other source will be asking people in Maranello. Mental note to myself: Ask people at Schedoni's and the Galleria while there. BTW: If anybody's interested in this, I can come up with some pictures of the bag in question. |

Andreas, Jay, I have no idea. I was just looking inside a GTO today but I hadn't seen this thread yet or I would've checked it out a little more closely. As far as the GTO being made for long distance touring, I think everyone knows it was originally intended for Group B rallying. |

Jay, yes I know (that book is now in my library too), neither does the official users' manual. But the bag does exist and it was made just for the GTO. Even says so on it embossed into the leather. My best guess would be, that it replaced the spare tire. Interestingly also was a comment from the late Alboreto: In the GTO video from White Star he is being interviewed and explains the GTO using his own as an example and he states, that it was really made for long distance touring. Something I wouldn't be doing with at least some additional clothes and my necessities bag. |

Andreas, the book "Original Ferrari V8" makes no mention of Schedoni luggage for the GTO. Surprising, because it speaks about the lack of room for storage. |

Schedoni made a special 'bag'/suitcase for the 288 GTO. Where would it have been stored? The GTO's manual doesn't mention it. Its dimension are roughly 23x18x5. So it might have gone into the front, but not with the spare tire and tool kit. It *MIGHT* have fitted behind one of the seats, but only rotated 90 degress because of the GTO's engine compartment sticking out in the middle. Does anybody know? Maybe Wayne? |
