Sean I brought a 89 328 into the US from Canada about 8 months ago. all I needed was a letter from FNA stating that the car was US compliant. It is very easy you need to speak to Shannon in the Tech dept. Then you need a registed importer. I used Mackie Transport. They are importers and shippers, I had the car sent from MOntreal to Detroit and it cost me $400.oo + the 2.5% duty tax and that was it. It is very simple and if you need my help please feel free to call

Sean, I believe all 328's were "North American" cars. No difference between Canadian and US. Check the VIN to see if it's a US (North American) car. This is a only a guess so don't hold me to it.

I sold one to a guy in Canada. Thats U.S. to Canada and all that was needed was a free and clear title and a bill of sale for him to take it across the border. He then had to pay a 15% Canadian tax to register it in Canada.

Sean I sold my last car (not a Ferrari) from Canada to a guy in the US. You will need DOT and EPA letters of compliance from the manufacturer. You can also look at the US customs web site.

Has anyone here imported a car from Canada?

I've seen a few 328's I might be interested in, but before I even bother to call, I'd like to know what I might need to have done to get the car into the US? Will I need DOT papers, and inspections, etc? Will it need extra emissions equipment?

Anything else?
