I will need new tires for the '75 308GT4 this year. Up to now I have 205/70-14 Michelin XWX, but they need to be replaced. In this forum the change to 16" QV-wheels and modern tires (205 front, 225 rear) has been discussed extensively. But besides the optic (I just LOVE the balloon-type XWX) I think that the car is perfectly balanced with the old tires (slight understeering changing to oversteering under load). A change to the new tires (205 front, 225 in the back) will make the handling more precise (low profile tires) but will change the characteristic of the car into a more understeering behaviour. Maybe faster, but less fun to drive. Am I wrong? Any more fans of oversteering cars out there? Regards Harry |
