I wouldnt do it. while cutting down on heat in engine bay is an excellent ideal. Containing heat in exhaust system will result in build up.Being stainless I suspect it will be ok also. Doesnt look that bad either.

I have used heat wrap and other than the fact that it does not stay looking beautiful and clean it has other advantages than the main one, which ofcourse is to maintain the exhaust temperature to keep the gas speed up. The other advantage is that it lowers the under bonnet (hood) temperature and thus can help lower the input air temp and also help with marginal water temp issues.

I would leave it on myself, as while I understand the comment regarding exhaust lengths and sizes for ultimate performance ... I do not think that at our level it would hurt anything. Now Schumachers F1 Ferrari engine maybe this would be a big deal ... but they usually use a blanket type insulation and cover the extractors, ie. do not cover each individual pipe.

Ed,
LOL. It sounds great. It is much more noticeable at higher rpm. At idle it almost hard to tell. It is a nice throaty rumble.

Ken
You suggest removing it? Is there something I should look for (hear for) that would indicate a problem?

I've always been steered away from it. With SS it won't have the corrosion problems wrapping mild steel has, but your exhaust is (supposed to be) the correct size for your car to optimize breathing, and changing the heat transfer coefficient by wrapping them probably means you need a different diameter/length to get it to its maximum preformance at the right RPM range. I'd leave it alone unless you're racing and have a dyno, along with a really good mechanic who understands exhausts.

Barney, How does it sound? You have to give us a better description than just the picture...for DES's sake at least! lol

Has anyone used the exhaust wrap before? It is used a lot on racing cars.
